Lakers: Is Andrew Bynum the answer?
Lakers have lost to Denver, Phoenix and Portland, and guess what position killed the Lakers? Center
Nuggets game - Andersen 11 points 12 rebounds 7 blocks
Suns game - Shaq 33 points
Blazers game - Przybilla 12 points 18 boards
(we won the Grizzlies game but - Marc Gasol had a career night 14 points 17 rebounds)
Pau Gasol have been playing well but the Lakers still find it hard to slow down some centers. Is Andrew Bynum the answer? I think we are strong inside with Drew and alot deeper.
[I heard Andrew will be back at the last week of march]
Star if you think Andrew Bynum is the Answer!

I really think so. he gives us such a strong presence in the paint. He is much bigger and stronger than Pau. So when Bynum comes back it moves Pau back to his normal position at PF. And also moves Odom back to his normal position at SF where he can really be versatile.
He also helps our defense alot as well by shot blocking and just another 7'0 280lbs to get by in order to score.
I just hope when he comes back this year that he will atleast be good enough to ensure our defense up. We don't need him to score points, just rebound and block shots.

What up L07,
It's a tough question. i think the Lakers have not had enough time to see how good they truly can be when fully healthy. Andrew has shown the potential to be a consistent double-double guy and even a future all-star when healthy and when he gets enough touches of the ball.
Being a player of that caliber- it is fair to say that any team is better with Andrew Bynum. i mean even if he's not back at 100% just having him to come off the bnehc gives the Lakers more depth and toughness. And there are games that you mentioned where Bynum's presence would have helped the Lakers (especially on the defensive side of the ball).
i'm not sure he's the answer- but he's most certainly a part of the answer. The Lakers have so much offensive fire power and depth that when they play great team defense- they're awfully difficult to beat. i'm glad we'll have him back for the playoffs- because it just makes the Lakers that much harder to beat in a 7 game series.

Answer to a better team - Yes.
Answer to losing against other Centers - No.
When Bynum scored 40+ against the Clippers, the Clippers had no Chris Kaman, or Camby... So Bynum took advantage... But Bynum is still young and has many time to improve. He's not a big factor in the Lakers success, but a good one... In 2 or 3 years Bynum will be an All Star Center and will be a major part of the Lakers success. For now, Gasol, Kobe, Odom, and Fisher have to step up it up a notch till he returns.

Bynum is definitely the answer. If Bynum didn't get hurt last year, I think they could've beat the Celtics in the finals or at pushed the series to 7 games. With Kobe, two legit low post scorers and defenders in Gasol and Bynum and a very talented supporting cast, the lakers are clearly the NBA's most talented team. Without Bynum, they're still good. But I don't think they're good enough to win the championship.

The Lakers needed Bynum in the center spot. Pau Gasol is comfortable playing the power forward position. Though it's just a regular season loss, they better be prepared come playoff time, because other teams would definitely take advantage of that weak spot in the Lakers. Just hope that Bynum would still be strong and would not again injured once he comes back. Still, the Lakers squad are the team to beat in the postseasons.

yes, andrew bynum is the answer for laker's championship dream, bc without andrew laker's rebound had went down the hill. if lamar odem didn't play like a beast to average 10+ rebound everygame laker will have their defense tear up by the other team

Definitely. We are better offensively without Andrew Bynum. But defensively? Nope.
Points in the paint has been raining over Pau Gasol. Everyone can dunk on Gasol. Anyone can do a layup drill over the 7-foot Spaniard.
Not that I think he is soft, he just isn't able to block and defend the rim better than Drew.
Technically speaking, Pau isn't as good of a help defender as Drew is. Pau isn't good at rotating to another defender as he just tries to stay put on one player only. Drew is a good help defender on the weak side because of his ability to get to the defender faster than Pau can. He is more athletic as well.

Have any of you seen bynum play when he is angry. The mean face gets going and he is strong enough to barrel over players. No way if he comes back healthy that the lakers can't take the ring.

Team Defense is the key for the Lakers
Sure Bynum will improve their defense, but he want make it "elite"
EXP. Marcus Camby, on the Nuggets. Great Defensive Center, yet the Nuggets were still a horrible defensive team.
Lakers need to play tough, and focus on team defense. They are the best offensive team in the league, but they can't expect to outscore every team, every night.

Yes, with Bynum the Lakers are better. doesn't mean we need him now, we are still best team record wise let Bynum heal and be ready for the playoffs.
