Can you help me decide when to take a pregnancy test?
Ok my main question is - when they say that you should take the test in the morning, does it actually mean the morning, or just when you haven't been for a while? (stupid question I know!)
Basically, if I'm about 2 days before my period's due, and I've got a test that says it can work up to 6 days early, am I likely to get an accurate result if I use it now (at least 5 hours after I last went to the toilet if that's relevant), or do I really need to wait till tmo morning.
Details for anyone who cares - I've been thinking I'm pregnant for a few days, I feel really sure even though it's actually quite unlikely based on how much sex we've had at what points in my cycle. I wanted to get 2 test that can be used early so I could do one straight away then in the morning when it's more accurate, but the pharmacy I went to didn't have any so I had to get some that you can only use around when you're due. Then 10 steps down the road, I realised there was another pharmacy there, lol, but they only had 1 early test so I've got 1 early and 2 normal tests. I can't decide whether to take the early test now, because I really want to know but if it's too early to get a result apart from in the morning, I don't want to waste it and have to wait for days before I can use the cheap ones. There doesn't seem to be any point doing a cheap one now just to keep me going till tmo morning over because I think it's guaranteed to show negative at this stage.
Advice please? Thank you for your help!

Honestly the "correct" thing to do is to wait until your period is late by at least a day... but unfortunately, I think the stress of worrying about waiting to take a test can cause your period to be late. We put so much stress on ourselves ttcers! So I would say take your early test. If you get a neg now, it may give you enough *umph* to wait until your period is late and the constant obsession will subside. Good luck to you, I hope you get your BFP!

The thing about "testing 6 days before your missed period" is very ambiguous- it is based on a woman having a Luteal phase (lp) of 14 days. I have a 12 day lp, so assuming I tested 6 days early I'd be 6 days post ovulation (DPO)- now, considering most embryos don't even implant until at least 7DPO There is no way I'd get a +ve test 6 days before. However if a woman has a 14 day LP and tests 6 days early she'll test at 8DPO and therefore may pic up the HCG hormone.
However pregnancy tests are expensive and many pick up a trace of hcg hormone then nothing comes of the pregnancy (in about 50% of pregnancies detected before 12DPO the embryo is lost and the woman gets her period) so my advice is save your money and only test when you suspect pregnancy, or the day your period is due at the earliest.
If you are about 12DPO (assuming you have a 14 day lp) then a test with first morning wee will more than likely show positive, but it won't for definite even if you're preggy. They are expensive so if you can hold out 2 more days might be worth it!

Hi,
I use to be really impatient - with my last pregnancy - which has sadly ended due to baby having no heartbeat, I tested 4 days early and got a big 'PREGNANT' on Clearblue digital test.
I now think these early detection test cause too much heartache and I think next time I feel I am pregnant, I am going to wait till I miss at least 2 if not 3 periods before testing as I cant go through the heartache again.
So if I were you I would wait till period late and then it doesn't matter if test in morning or afternoon.

I know how it feels to have that dilemma. I have it now.
I would suggest you, what I would want others to suggest me too: to breath deeply and take time in using all the bought tests. Give it time. If it's there, it's there and you will enjoy it. But it could still be there and the test does not show it.
Save yourself from the disappointment of a "one line" test. Give your body time to produce enough hormones, if that is the case.
Don't obsess honey, and I'm telling this to myself too, because these kind of thoughts are really becoming obsessing to me.
I pray you really have a baby coming :-))
