Islamic law doesn't tell us to sentence people who speak up against injustice. Moreover, Islam is the religion which liberated women, and gives more rights to women than to men. Sharia/sunni law is not Islamic, considering Islam strictly forbids sectarianism in the first place.
So no, I don't agree with the decision, and I'd suggest you read up on actual Islamic law(present in the Quran, and not in the constitution of any 'Islamic' state), before you make statements such as ''unquestioningly following Islamic law''.

The Koran is very clear about womens education and anyone who questions the Koran is guilty of blasphemy. This is Sharia Law.
