The bust was only loaner from former British prime minister Tony Blair following the September 11 attacks. A bust of Abraham Lincoln now sits in its place, and the Churchill bust was removed before Obama's inauguration as part of the usual changeover operations, the ones that happen before every new occupant enters.

Besides, Churchill orchestrated a 1952 crackdown on the Mau Mau rebellion against British colonial rule in Kenya. That's the rebellion that labeled Obama's grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, a subversive and sent him to months of detention. I guess Obama didn't like him too much anyway.

2. Winston Churchill was not one for all of the "pomp and circumstance". He would be appalled that someone felt that he was so important that they sent a bust of him to another nation's leader.

Well Obama gave the British Prime Minister a DVD box set of 25 classic movies. Now the PM can enjoy the Wizard of Oz with Winston Churchill's bust.

Frankly, it doesn't surprise me that Obama would do something like that.

As pointed out above, the bust was on loan - a temporary personal item to Bush from Tony Blair.

With each new administration the Oval Office is redecorated to suit the new occupant. Obama staffers have simply replaced it with a bust of Lincoln.

I thought you all only had hynotic words you became obessesed with like Maverick, hockey mom, socialist but questions over & over & who cares what some unknow column writer has to say if her or she is appalled that mean Obama is controling her & he doesn't even care to do that.. churchhill would love Obama & know the real story not the peeping behind the curtains that republicans do to put someone down so they can look better.
