Legalizing marijuana, not Obama related?

My friend had this idea of legalizing it, and it involved the government taxing it, therefore helping the economy, and just to make people generally happier.

Marijuana was originally intended as a medicine, so why legalization??

He also compared what countries he had heard that legalized it, such as Canada, Egypt (I'm not sure if that is correct), Denmark, and a few oother countries. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

i think that, like alcohol, it would be much easier to control and do much more good legalized than not, prohibition made a remarkable age of crime possible, i think legalizing marijuana would free up valuable police resources and make a large number a Americans law abiding citizens instead of criminals.

Legalizing pot will in no way ensue interior the U. S.. there are numerous the explanation why legalization is stupid. think of of 2nd hand smoke, yet with the means of it to influence the strikes of others. Legalizing marijuana will reason recklessness. think of making use of in streets with extreme drivers. anyhow, Obama would not be able to legalize marijuana. it rather is a state concern, no longer a federal one.

Legalize (again) and tax it. It will bring in more $ than Hollywood.

Marihuana is only illegal because this issue was used to limit the number of illegal Mexican workers living in the Phoenix, AZ area during the first great depression. (!)

They took jobs away from citizens by working at lower wages. Many Mexicans smoked marijuana so the law was passed for an excuse to arrest and deport them to protect jobs.

I think marijuana should b legalized b/c the people who do it wont stop and the people who don't..it won't matter 2 them. Some people i know started doing marijuana b/c it was illegal and fun. I think if it was legal a few less people would do it. It's not like it'll hurt anyone who doesn't do it.

technically coca cola is more harmful for your health than marijuana the taxing idea is good and it might happen in california and it just goes to show how the government really doesn't care about the people for 100 years they have campaigned against it then when they need money they say hey let's legalize it for tax revenue.

Yes. My mom and I had the same idea. No matter how hard the government tries, they won't be able to banish it, so why not help the people in the process?

Perhaps. I don't agree with the whole "evil drug" theory. I don't think anything but plain Jane marijuana should be legal though...unless. No. Yeah. :)

No. Marijuana is a dangerous drug, and should not be used without a medical card. I've only heard of people using marijuana after Kimo when they have cancer, but that's only adults, and usually people don't use it even then. So, no, marijuana should not be legalized.

I think it should be used for medicinal purposes. Beyond that I don't think so, but I would like to see a cost analysis!

Nope, we have enough people running around drunk driving off a legal drug... we don't need one that you have to take a pee test to be sure that you're under the influence. Can you imagine THAT traffic stop?
