Oh, I have always loved that musical score! When I was younger, I'd go to our local library and rent the vinyl record, bring it home, and play it over and over on our record player. When one hears Tara's Theme, you can't help but visualize scenes from the epic movie. Listen to Tara's Theme here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLpznKt4Ves&feature...
P.S.--The record that I remember was a 12-inch 33 1/3 rpm record. and loaded with tiny scratches. lol
EDIT: I found the soundtrack available on Amazon.com and you can hear sound bites from the CDs at: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_m_0_18?url=searc...
This is one of the comments about the music:
Max Steiner's music for Gone With the Wind was probably the most outstanding film score of the 20th century. Not only does it contain the gorgeous and justly-famous "Tara's Theme" but also a wealth of other beautiful and dramatically apt music -- much of which is presented on this CD. Although the original soundtrack recording is somewhat lacking in fidelity by modern standards, this CD presents a clean sounding re-recording of this wonderful music. If you buy only one film score, make it this one.

its probably such a landmark in music history, because the movie it self was! an epic movie such as GWTW needed the epic sound, and it had it!, and I believe nothing would seem as good as it seems without great background music :)

I love "Tara's Theme" I could listen to it all day long.
I smiply adore it at the end of side 1 of the movie when Katie Scarlett goes "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!"

It's Lara's Theme, and it's a beautiful tune. Here's a tidbit for you. Julie Christie who plays Lara also plays Madam Rosmerta in the Harry Potter films. That's Dr. Zvigago. sorry and never mind.
