Need Travel Advice - Honeymoon!?

My fiance can't seem to agree on where we would like to vacation for our honeymoon. We both want to stay in the caribbean though. Our total budget for airfare and lodging is about $1500 for 5 nights (June 22-27). He wants to be close to a rainforest and I want to be on the beach. We don't want to stay at a international chain hotel or resort (i.e. Hilton, etc..) We don't need a ton of amenities, but the place should be clean and new-ish.

Help? (So far we've searched Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, & US Virgin Islands)

Update:

We want a relaxing vacation where we can interact with locals. It doesn't have to be all-inclusive either.

Airfare/lodging packages would be GREAT!

Puerto Rico has a rain forest & beaches. I suggest you look into El Conquistador Hotel, Rio Mar Hotel & Gran Melia Hotel. They are all close by el Yunque rain forest and have a beach. El Conquistador has a private island that is gorgeous. These hotels are normally expensive but June is low season in the caribbean so you can get a cheaper price. Go onto Orbitz.com & search your flight + hotel. You will get a package deal which is cheaper then booking seperate. Then look for those hotels to see if its in your budget. Puerto Rico is a US territory so you wont need to buy a passport & the water & food are safe to consume. Also its pretty safe to travel around, go to local places & mingle with people. Otherwise Costa Rica might be good. Goodluck & Congrats!!

I went to St. Lucia for a vacation once with my wife and everyone we met was on their honeymoon or attended a destination wedding there. I has a rain forest and beaches. We did the Sandals all inclusive deal, which is okay for drinking, but the food is kinda small portions. You can also go from resort to resort for beaches and restaurant. St. Lucia, like many Caribbean destinations, has safe areas and not so safe areas. It has some bad roads as well but parts of it was beautiful. You can rent a hut on the beach outside of the resorts for reasonable rates.

Fair warning though, in June the carribean is gonna be sweltering hot I would imagine.

I don't know to many caribbean locations with a rainforest outside of St. Lucia & Martinique. My wife and I seriously thought about St. Lucia as we both were looking for things to do besides sitting on a beach but opted for Costa Rica instead.

Well if you must leave the room, Costa Rica has both very close together. Manuel something. There is even a zip line canopy tour and the full tanning beach is just around the rocks from the main beach. Good prices, good food and very friendly people.

Mexico is affordable. There is a nice resort that sounds like it would fit both of your needs, but I don't know if it is in your price range. It is Xpu-ha...I put a link below. My sister stayed here and loved it...but like I said, might be too much $. It was all-inclusive. There are "excursions" where they can take you on a jungle adventure and there are also beach excursions...with snorkeling, horseback riding on the beach, etc. Lots of activities to choose from...or just sit at the resort and enjoy the beach!

in the event that they actually need to in basic terms spend this money, they may well be greater effective off getting a astonishing room interior reach the place they stay and saving something. you may't fly everywhere for below $3 hundred for 2 human beings. you may't fly everywhere astonishing for below $4 hundred. A hire-a-vehicle will fee a minimum of $one hundred + gasoline. So, you in actuality have $500. A awful room in a astonishing place ought to be $one hundred thirty five a night and foodstuff would be $one hundred in line with day in case you consume at mediocre qulaity restuarants. i do no longer think of it may well be well worth it to spend $a million,000 goign away for what's in actuality a protracted weekend and occasional high quality.

I would suggest Grenada, a beautiful island with rain forest and beach very near to each other. It is expensive however but for what is the most important day for your future wife i would splash out a bit. Wishing you both the very best

You might not necessarily find a rain forest in Barbados but you can go to Harrison's Cave and Welchmah Hall Gully.
