  • Daycare rates policy is confusing me; any help?

I am looking into daycares and the one daycare says that the rate is "$180 per week for 52 weeks, which includes 3 weeks of vacation/sick time". Does that mean that I pay $180 every single week but there are three weeks where I can't take the baby in but I still pay? I will be calling the daycares next week to get more info and then I'll clarify with them; but I would just like to figure this out beforehand if anyone knows what this means. Thanks!

  • Do you prefer the spelling Alison or Allison?

I thought the name was spelled Alison, but when I looked it up I see that Allison is ranked #45 in popularity and Alison is ranked #218. So, now I think I should spell it with two "L"s so that my daughter doesn't have a weird name spelling! What do you think?

  • My dog is afraid of other dogs...best way to make introduction to a new dog?

My dog never likes any other dogs. We socialized her as a puppy, but she would just hide under the chair during the puppy play sessions. When a dog tries to play with her or just sniff her, she gets very afraid and cowers away and shows her teeth and growls. This happens with big dogs, small dogs, puppies, any dog! She has never played like a normal dog and doesn't seem to understand playing. She gets along with cats just fine. My sister got a new dog and they will be meeting this weekend. Her new dog is very calm, so I think that will help my dog to be less afraid of him. Are there any tips for making the introduction go smoothly? Such as on leashes vs. off leashes. If she is growling and showing her teeth, we normally separate the dogs, is this the right thing to do? Any advice would be helpful...thanks!

  • Homeowner's insurance claim - do you have to replace exact items?

I am working on creating a home inventory for homeowner's insurance purposes (I have replacement value coverage). I have some things that I wouldn't replace...I would rather use the money to purchase something else. For example; I wouldn't replace a Playstation 2 game; I would rather use the money toward a Playstation 3 game. So, if I were to have a loss; would the insurance company just give me a check for the value of the PS2 game, or would I have to go out and actually purchase the same game and then send the receipt to the insurance company for reimbursement? I know I should probably just call the insurance company with my questions; but I'm just looking for some general info. Thanks!

  • Has anyone tried the Cold Stone Creamery sinless sans fat ice cream?

I have a coupon for a free ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery and saw that they have "healthy" ice cream - is it any good or should I just go with the regular delicious ice cream? Thanks!

  • Do you compliment someone on a shirt you bought for them?

When you buy someone an article of clothing as a gift, and they later wear it when they are going to see you - I feel as though it should be acknowledged that you notice they are wearing the gifted item. However, if you compliment it, aren't you really just complimenting your own taste? What is the right thing to say to let them know that you see they are wearing the gift and that it looks good? Thanks!

  • Robin Roberts new look on Good Morning America?

I missed the episode where Robin Roberts got her new look on GMA. I think she looks beautiful now with the short hair; but I was just wondering if she said why she decided to stop wearing the wig. Thanks!

  • Are kids better behaved when both parents work?

I have noticed that on all of the episodes of Supernanny that I have seen, the mom is a stay at home mom. Do you think that this is a coincidence, or that kids with a stay at home parent act out because they are bored of always being in the same house around the same person? I have no kids but I am curious to hear what parents think.

  • Do you use earplugs while drying your hair?

I just starting wearing earplugs while drying my hair in the morning and it is so much more pleasant than blasting the loud dryer in my ear first thing in the morning. Plus, hopefully this will help make sure I don't go deaf one day! Does anyone else do this or is it just me?

  • Ice maker hook-up kit without self-piercing saddle valve?

We just bought a new whirlpool fridge and to hook up the ice maker it specifically says not to use a self-piercing saddle valve. Everywhere I look (Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon, etc), the only hook-up kits that I see include the self-piercing valve. Does anyone know where to find a kit that isn't self-piercing or how to get around using the self-piercing valve? Thanks!

  • Who gets charitable donation deduction when donation was gift to someone else?

  • Ebay listing deleted for copyright infringement - what would you do?

So, here is the situation, I am wondering what you would do if you were in my shoes (the seller on Ebay). I sold an item and someone bought it almost immediately with the Buy it Now option. They paid right away through paypal. Then the next morning I got an e-mail from Ebay saying the listing was deleted and that they were going to notify the bidders. I hadn't shipped the item yet. I wasn't sure if I should ship it because I am worried that the buyer could retract their paypal payment. So, I sent the buyer an e-mail saying that I still plan to ship the item if they are still interested. I haven't heard back from them yet and don't know if I should just ship it. What would you have done? Thanks!

  • Buying a house - is it too late to get a Buyers' Realtor once the listing agent already showed us the house?

I am a first time homebuyer and I found a house online that I thought looked nice. I contacted the listing agent and she showed me the house. I have another appt with her to see the house again in a few days. I really like the house and think it might be the one I end up buying. The problem is that I think the listing agent has the sellers' best interests in mind; rather than mine. Would it be too late to contact a different realtor to show me the house a third time and be my buyers' realtor? Would they get a commission or does the listing agent get it when I found the house online myself? Thanks!

  • So You Think You Can Dance - Girl who broke ankle last season during auditions?

Does anyone remember the girl who hurt her ankle during the audition process last year on So You Think You Can Dance? She was really good and Nigel told her that she could come back this season and pick up where she left off - so she wouldn't have to go through the tryouts again. Just wondering where she was this season?
