Today my computer would not boot up?

After re-seating video card, ram, resetting cmos, multiple tries I was not able to get past the starting beep...no video..nothing but fans running but no action.

I found I CAN boot up normally and use computer now, but can only have 1 stick of ram for it to work. It doesn't matter what stick I use it seems...but more than one and now I get initial boot screen (of MOBO not windows) but does not progress.

Power supply issue?

Update:

I just rechecked. It doesn't matter if I put a stick of 1MB in any slot...or a stick of 2mb in any slot...it works just fine with only on in. I try to pair up either the 1 mb stick with another...or a 2 mb stick with another (ddr2)...and it faile to boot now, but the bios recognizes the added ram.

Update 2:

Sorry I meant GB.

Update 3:

Unreal. I have no idea what is going on. I blew out all dimm slots again...and for kick put all memory sticks in just as it has been for 3 months...and it werks!

Whatta waste of almost 2 hours. Maybe I need to buy a can of air?

Update 4:

strike..saw your post after i got it working..think you were right. You will get 5*'s thx

Does it make a difference what slot you run the ram in?

Are you sure sure you are pushing down on both sticks of ram in till they click into the slots. I only say that because iv had similar problems before, where if the ram isn't clicked in just right it will do the same as you are describing..Just an idea, good luck
