My 18mo old son has a bump in the crease between leg and abdomen?
The bump like I said is in crease or line that separates the upper leg and his lower abdomen. It's the size of a grape and is not discolored nor does it have a head like a pimple or bite. It also doesn't seem to bother him at all. My wife noticed it while changing his diaper. He doesn't have diaper rash. I'm thinking it may be a hernia or popped blood vessel. We ARE taking him to his pediatrician tomorrow. Any thoughts? Thanks.

What I am seeing here is that he could possibly be acting out because all the changes... He could be upset with you and your husband for working and leaving him with someone else. He will get over it. Yes, "terrible twos" could be a factor. At this point, although I believe in spanking, it may not be the best. How much one-on-one time do you and your hubby have with him? Maybe you should set a time - even if only an hour a week - for a "date" with your son. Yes, you AND your husband. You don't have to go anywhere- just sit and do something he likes, letting him know that although you two are not there 100% of the time, he is still important to you and you love him. There is, by no means, a quick fix, but he will grow out of it. Just love him though it.

Most babies get them when they are born and they end up going away...i forgot the name of the type of hernia it is...I wouls take him into the doctor tomorrow and have it checked out....More then likely thats what it is. I had one when I was 5 in the same place I have to have surgery. Well I'm not trying to freak you out sorry! Good luck and God Bless

It could possibly be a hernia or it could be a swollen lymph node. Is it closer to the inner or outer thigh? While in adults, unexplained lumps are one of the seven warning signs of cancer, this is not always the case in children. In kids, there is less fat covering the glands, also they grow faster in response to infection, and can stay swollen longer. It's probably no cause for alarm, however should definitely be checked by his pediatrician, your doing the right thing there. don't loose sleep over it and most of all, good luck!

There are lymph nodes in that area as well, so it could be a swollen node, which could mean he is just fighting off some kind of infection. There are just a lot of different things it could be though. Hopefully the pediatrician will let you know.

Yes, most likely a hernia- a ruptured blood vessel would probably hurt, right?
If it is a hernia, then maybe you should get surgery done...?

most likly a hernia due to weak untrained muscles ussually nothing but you should ask your pediatrician to look at it when he sees the child

My first thought was an enlarged lymph node.
