My earring is stuck!! I cant get the back off?? Any suggestions?
Its a earring stud in my lobe. I found an old pair of plain studs - I think they we're like my second pair of earrings like 15yrs ago (god that makes me feel old!) Any the butterfly back is the one they came with and one is now stuck.
I tried vaseline. Any other suggestions.
I probably have it in 3 wks.
just to clarify, its not IN my lobe, thats just where I'm pierced. Its just I cant get back off. I only noticed when I went to change my earrings.
It ok my mother just pulled the back off with pliers!! and I still have my earring and earlobe!
Thanks all!

Sometimes butterfly backings can get stuck if they turn on an angle. They won't come off unless you push them back to where they were before. Can you see if the post goes directly into the post friction back or if it has been slightly turned on its side? If so, try to push it back the way it was and then remove the earrings.
You also might want to double check and make sure the earrings are screw on butterfly backings. Those go on easy sometimes without the wearer knowing that they have to be screwed off. Try spinning the backing in a counter clockwise position. However, if there is only one stuck, this probably isn't the problem.
If they are on straight, I would ask for some assistance from a friend. Perhaps the metal has corroded and they aren't in as great shape as they used to be. Make sure you hold the front securely so they don't tear the hole and have your friend try to get the backing off that way.
Good luck. I hope this helps. It's no fun to be a prisoner in your own jewelry!

I think I would numb it with ice, that will also bring the swelling down some. Rub area with alcohol and clean two pliers with alcohol. Hold on to the front of the earring with one pliers and have a friend pull off the back with the other plier.
Wipe area with alcohol again and apply antibiotic cream.

That's happened to me before. I got someone else to get it for me. They have a much better view to see what's going on back there. She had to use pliers though...it was tough but it finally came off. I also had one of those hoops with the ball in it...couldn't get that one off so I cut the hoop with wire cutters.

ask a friend to take a pair of pliers to the back of your earring and cut the excess bar unless you want to be able to wear that earring again take 2 of them and pry apart from both sides

If vaseline didn't help..
Try slightly melted butter,
Or a little bit of olive oil.
If needed, go to a doctor.

I don't think it's "stuck" when i had earrings, that were studs. I wanted to take mine off but i thought they were stuck.. but one day i pulled really hard, i took one earring off. and let my dad do the rest. it didn't hurt! :D
just pull it out really hard.. this happens. be careful! :D

go to the doctor, i got my earings stuck in my lobe and they said that the only thing that i could do was get it removed by a doctor by cutting it out. It doesn't feel great but it's necessary.
hope it helps & all goes well:]
