Rabbit in Toronto......?

Are there any restaurants that serve rabbit in Toronto? I've found a couple that have rabbit stew or pie, but that's it.

Rabbit is served in alot of fine dining places in Toronto. The last time I had rabbit was at this restaurant called George about 2 months ago. It was a rabbit confit, part of a tasting menu, but the a la carte I think has it for $25. Keep in mind the plate is very small, and the restaurant is going with the whole tapas craze, so this plate isn't going to make you even close to full...but anyways.

It was a rabbit confit, something different than your stew or pie. Basically they take some small cuts of the rabbit, have it slowly simmer in a pot full of duck fat while it's in the oven for about 6 hours. To alot of people that sounds disgusting, but to me anything done confit tastes amazing...including this rabbit!

I am a former chef and have worked in many Toronto fine dining establishments, and as to the first girl, it is not wild rabbit and they do not go into the parks and bash it over the head with a stick, I use to buy it from my poultry guy, Royce Dupont, there cleaned and still had there kidneys, it is a special dish, most french restaurant will do it on occasion, pate, terrine and confit as the one fellow said are more common, I did the whole rabbit in a stewed dish with wine, juniper berries and red currant jelly, loins with a mustard sauce, with the pates it is generally a mix of rabbit, pork for fat and flavour and maybe a poultry for bulk, I made it more country style with either truffles or morels in it, smoked ham and lardons.

One of my friends is going to Florida to eat Rabbit genitalia this weekend. The place is called FTR. I'll ask him to inquire if it will be coming to Toronto soon.

JC29, did you eat Rabbit a few weekends ago, or did you just get served?

    Forget Toronto, man.

Go to SW Louisiana. You'll find little old grandmothers making rabbit gumbo in every quarter of town.

Chicken and sausage make the best gumbo, but I've had pretty good rabbit, squirrel, and turtle gumbo too.

I have a friend who bought a rabbit and named him D'Angelo. The poor mammal didn't last 6 months.
