Residential internet service typically has asymmetrical bandwidth. The average home user is more likely to use large amounts of download bandwidth than they are to use a large amount of upload bandwidth. You need to keep in mind that if you had higher upload bandwidth that it will come at the expense of reduced download bandwidth.

Your ISP may also offer business grade service at a much higher price that would give you equal download and upload bandwidth if you need that kind of service.
