Citizen tensions leading to resenting the government?
With the United States being split to almost polar opposites about an actually serious issue such as increased Socialism and nationalizing certain private industries in these gloomy economic times do you find yourself resenting the government and the laws it enforces upon you?
Take for instance if I received a letter in the mail from the city that I had a tree overhanging in the alley I would comply without problems. But today I feel as though if that happened I hold no social responsibility towards the government.
Before anyone answers, no this is not meant to be an anti-establishment anarchist question. We all know anarchy is impossible and detrimental to the human species.

I was working on the roof of a 200 ft tall building about 2:00 AM one morning. When it struck me that my fellow Americans were going to use the armed force of government to take about 1/2 the overtime pay I was making, while my aching bones were freezing in the cold night air.
I also realised that the majority of them were in their warm beds while I was working. I resented that and will no longer work any more than necessary to support myself. I realised that tax payers were the enablers allowing this to happen.

Why would your feelings about our national government affect your attitude towards your city government?
Maybe you should take a deep breath, step back and listen to music radio for a week and watch no television news, only shows and DVDs.
