Why can't I get over my crush on this girl?

I really, really liked this girl in high school, but though I tried, she never liked me back. The problem is, I can't stop thinking about all the ways I tried (writing her letters and drawing her pictures and stuff) and I can't help but get this horrible feeling in my stomach which makes me wish the ground would just swallow me whole! Gosh, I feel so embarrassed, because even her friends read those letters and saw the pictures I used to draw her and it's so humiliating that so many people know that I was  so crazy about her and yet nothing came out of it. I bet she and her friends used to laugh at my attempts to get her attention. I just can't get over it and it's making me feel really embarrassed and depressed even though it's been more than a year since I last saw her. Why can't I get over this. I feel so embarrassed and humiliated and I've convinced myself I will never express my feelings for a girl ever again, or at least not for a long time because being ignored and rejected hurts so much, and that's all I've ever known from the girls I've liked in my lifetime. Please help-- I just really need some way to get over this.

What it is that you put so much expectations on her.
Yuu were way too nice, too accommodating and too much a$$-kissing. She knew she can have you just by snapping her fingers, because you followed her around like a moon-eyed puppy dog. 
You tried to impress her. 
You thought you could buy her attention with flowers, gifts and expensive meals.....WRONG!

Girls like the attention and the gfts, but they do not like guys that act "too nice, too accommodating and too much a$$-kissing"
Those type of guys rely on items instead of personality to impress.

Learn from this error.
Learn that there is more fish in the sea.
I bet I can find 10 females that have better qualities than the one you moon over, because I do not invest all of myself to one girl on the assumption she would say YES.

There is no guarantee that any girl will accept anything.
You can up the odds with a great personality, confidence and everything but then again you can never assume any girl will work according to how you think and assume..girl do not think like men.

Market yourself so you can attract others.
Learn no girl is worth all attention...ever noticed that the confident guys have one GF but a lot of female friends, it is because he shared his attention to all of them before he finally chose one to be his GF.
Get over failure and regret, nothing is truly bad unless it means your life.
Your attitude makes other girls run away from you, no girl wants a guy who is full of regret and depression....so quit it.

talk to other girls you think you might be interested in and try to get your mind off the girl that is driving you crazy. dont allow yourself to instant message her or look at her facebook profile and stuff. also realize you shouldnt be wasting your time worrying about some girl that doesnt like you back. and stop caring about what everyone thinks. it was in the past. man up and move on. a lot of guys do dumb stuff when girls drive them crazy you arent the only one.
