How do you identify a GM 4L65E from a 4L60E transmission out of a vehicle?
Do anyone know for sure if GM put the 4L65E behind the 5.3L in 2002?(Chevy suburban 1/2ton 2WD) Is there a for sure way to determined this without pulling the transnission? According to my VIN# I have a 4L60E. When I called to price a tranny I am being told that I have the 4L65E. I do know that my transmission pan has a drain plug .

They look identical from the outside, but there is a tag on the case that should have a Z in the 3rd digit ,it is the code to tell a 4L65E.
