How can I get rid of product buildup in my hair?

I was wondering what the best way to get rid of product buildup (I have a LOT) in my hair. My hair dresser told me to use baking soda but I've also read about clarifying shampoo. I color my hair regularly and was also wondering how this would affect it. I normally use Dove Severe Damage (it's in a blue bottle).

Use products from Garinear Frutice (can't spell it right now)...i also have full, long hair, (I"m from trinidad and tobago) ...it is the only product i use because i feel like it works the best. They have many products for women with big hair that most ppl. do not know about. On the commercials you see girls and guys with soft, thin "ish" hair, but YES, WHOO HOO, they have products for women with full long hair...

    Hope this helps
