What is difference between IPOD and MP3 or MP4 players? Can you buy music anywhere to download?

You generally get material for Ipods on Itunes due to software compatibility issues. Ipods can only play certain types of material due to licensing issues. Other MP3 players play MP3s from other places. There are apparently open source alternatives to iTunes and Ipods can play MP3s.

iPod is just a brand name. MP3 player is normally used to refer to a Non-Apple DAP (digital audio player)

MP3 is a music file type which is compressed so each song is only around 3-4 megabytes. Mp4 is more commonly used for video.

For a player around $75-80. You can't go wrong with the Sandisk Sansa Fuze. It's cheap, there are a whole bunch of accessories, it has great sound quality and if you need more memory, you can just put a micro SDHC card in it :)

Don't forget to replace the stock earphones to get the most out of the player! I'd reccommend the Sennheiser CX300 or Creative Ep-630 :)
