Is it worth it to drive to Belfast?
I will be staying in Dublin and I was think about going to see Belfast and I was wondering: a) how long of a drive is it and b) is it worth it to make the drive up there for the day.
I was also wondering if there was anything worth seeing there other than the bombs and bullets tour

Yes I think a trip to the North is well worth your time.
The island of Ireland is relatively small so depending on traffic it usually takes me about 2-3 hours (usually closer to 2). Belfast is a great city with so much history and is well worth the drive. Go to the City Hall, the Botanical Gardens, and Queens University. However, I suggest also going to the city of Derry, (also called 'Londonderry' depending on who you talk to), which I actually prefer to Belfast. It is a short drive from Belfast and is a beautiful walled city located on the River Foyle. It has as much history and as many things to do as Belfast. You can actually climb up on the walls and walk around the entire city. This gives a great view of the city, as well as a first hand look at modern Northern Ireland and the issues it still faces. For example, from the walls you will see the sectarian neighborhoods (footpaths painted with the colors of either the british or irish flags), peace fences, and sectarian graffiti. From a certain point on the wall you can look down on the Nationalist are of Bogside and get a good view of the famous wall murals. Seeing all of this first hand really puts a human face on the troubled history of the North and is an incredible experience.
Sorry if that was a bit long winded but I really recommend a trip to the North- you won't be disappointed!
Sorry if that
