I would recommend Top of the Hub on Boylston St. in Boston. It doesn't require a jacket and tie, but you would still dress up to go there. It's at the top of the Prudential and has an amazing view. It's beautiful. The food is delicious as well.

Id say chowhound, yelp or zagats.com would be better sites to get boston recs. they are all active sites.
Why do you need ae jacket and tie? Verey few restaurants require a tie anymore- most are businesss casual or jacket only are appropriate but not "required".
Try Prezza in the north end
Grill 23 or l'espallier in back bay
No 9 park
There are lots to choose from but I think youd have better luck on recommendations on the other sites.

A four star Restaurant does not necessarily mean four star food. Speak to to your friends.
