Is it cheaper to buy or rent a tuxedo?
Ok, this is going to be my first time wearing a tux. Well really the first time that Im wearing any "dress up" sorta clothes. Ive always just worn black slacks with a white collared shirt when I had to wear something kinda formal.
haha, but this time it's for prom so Im gonna have to go up a little.
That being said, my question is just whether I should buy or rent a tux, since Ive been told that it's cheaper to buy than to rent, but also that it's cheaper to rent than to buy.
So can I get some more insight on this anyone?

Buying is cheaper than renting if you plan to wear it two or three times. It's also more handsome and more comfortable, given that you can have the clothing tailored instead of making do with whatever ill-fitting rental is available. I would only recommend renting if you expect to have grown substantially by the next time you'd wear it.
Stick to a one or two-button black jacket and trousers, white turndown collar shirt, black self-tied bow tie and cummerbund, and black studs and cufflinks. Black or white button-on suspenders and a white pocket square are highly recommended.

i think bride to be really prepare this occasion as the highlight of their lives. they wanted it to be the most memorable day in their lifetime. especially if this is their first time getting married and thinking they want to be the perfect queen for that day. then, even its the most expensive wedding dress there is, they keep it as a souvenir, a memento of their happy young life, starting together. some bride expect their groom to be well prepared as well, not just like a rental tuxedo that they can return, some bride, keep the two clothing to preserve for their children and grandchildren to see (if the marriage will last that long). those clothing can be wear again if their size were still the same after several long years, think about the silver & golden wedding anniversary, they do still tie the knot accordingly. what would be the best way if you can still wear the same one? if not, alteration is the other option. plus if they pay that much, they will be the center of attention comparing price from their other married friends...

Definitly cheaper to rent, my boyfriend rented his tux for prom and it was half the cost of buying a tux
