Is it worth trying to sell my laptops battery and charger?

No, its completly worthless trying to sell them every computer comes with a battery and charger anyway and i think that every battery is unique to the computer but that is really a guess.

i think your best bet would be to sell the battery and charger over ebay www.ebay.co.uk as many people look for items such as exta batterys and chargers.

just keep in mind that these days, most people are only interested in buying the "whole product" rather than just the items..

Without proper testing equipment this will only be a guess. You definitely blew something on the motherboard. Since motherboard parts are generally not replaceable, a new motherboard is in order.
