FYI, Top Gear is an entertainment programme that grew out of a car review show. This particular episode had the 3 presenters riding motorbikes the length of Vietnam, and they did touch on the history from time to time. However it was much more travelogue than history program, so the link here is rather tenuous.

Mind you, I do see much more irrelevant questions here every day. Try the Politics section - only about 5% of questions are genuine; the rest are rants or way OT.

I did not expect anyone to actually ride the Yankee bike as it is unlikely the BBC would have risked the liability of an action brought by the rider if a local person over(?) reacted. I found the threat looming over their heads to be rather amusing.
