CPU question- game compatibility?

I bought a game for my laptop (lego batman) and It installed fine but always crashes when i start it up. I checked the system requirements, I have them all except I'm not really sure about the cpu requirements

It says I need an Intel P3 1.5ghz or AMD Athlon xp

and I have an Intel pentium dual core

is that okay? I don't know much about computers!

Not familiar with the game requirements or your TOTAL computer set-up, but "buyer beware" when you buy a game and your computer meets only the minimum requirements in one or more categories.

I've experienced the same thing you have a number of times (been repairing & building PCs since '91) -- bought a number of games where I met the minimal requirements, and guess what, the games never ran. Running well will also depend on the type of processor on your video, the amount of memory your video has, the type/capacity/speed of your system memory, other processes you might have running in the background, etc.

Try taking your computer to the store where you bought it, show them that your game doesn't run, and ask them for either your money back (if it's really completely compatible with your laptop) or for their tech guys to PROVE to you the game's not defective. If their computer tech folks figure it out, your game will work. If they can't, then you can get your money back.

What happens when it crashes? I need more info... does it cut off? Does it freeze? Blue screen?

    There's different crashes.

Try adjusting the video settings. There should be an options section in the main menu. If it has it, tell it to auto adjust the settings for optimal performance. If not, turn everything down to medium or low and see what happens.

What type of video card do you have? Go into My Computer, System, and it should tell you towards the bottom of the window. I think the problem is not the CPU but more than likely your video card.

you have a processor that is far better than the game requires. Your processor is like having two Pentium 4 CPUs. The game requires at least a Pentium 3.

As to why it crashes, it might not be compatible with the Operating system you are using... if you are using Vista, run it in XP compatibility mode. If you are using XP, try running it in 98 compatibility mode.

you have way more than a p3

the old measures of ghz went out with core duo

your machine is about 10 times or more processing power

perhaps the game has a patch, i assume you are on vista, which doesnt like old games

yes dual core should be more than enough to run that game, check your system memory and video card requirements
