Cure for writer's block?

I have been stuck for months now without being able to write anything new. I used to write a poem a week, but it has been months since the last time my pencil touched the paper.

I do not know what the problem is. I have new ideas, but I cannot think of how to put them to words. I do not know if the reason I cannot write lately is because I am working a lot. I do not know if I am losing creativity. Maybe all of my math and physics classes is destroying my ability to write creatively?

Either way, does anyone know anything I can do to get back on track?

Update:

Someone mentioned that they would love to read some of my poetry. Here is a link to my blog devoted to my poetry: http://www.joshlaughlin.com/Reality.html

This is only my "relatively new" poetry. I have other poetry on another blog, which can be reached via the link on the first blog.

Take a walk and exercise. That always helps me. Getting outside and just enjoying the nature really helps me think clearly, and exercising makes me feel better, so I write better.

oKay I know exactly how you feel. I went through a creative slump for three months straight. LIke I used to write poetry like almost everyday. I am even writing a novel and I write many short stories. But I got stuck for a while. I was once told that there is no such thing as writers block, only writers barrier. you won't be stuck forever. And honestly there is not much you can do about it. It is one of those things that kind of fixes itself in time. You writing will come back to you and it will come back at full tilt when it does grace you once again. Do not worry about it. In the mean time, don't stress about it. The more you contemplate why you cannot put your creative thoughts into words, or in context, the longer your writer's barrier will wage on. Just relax and don't think about it. My barrier didn't go away until I reached a life changing point and finally I found a way to put my ideas into words. I odn't kow if you are the same way but I mean every person writes differently. I just hope I helped a bit. And good luck! :) You should put some of your poetry on here. I would love to read it.

Don't worry.. I don't think you can "lose" your creativity... you just need to find it.

First off, you should take a day off. Carry around a notepad and take a walk or go on a day trip. If you see something interesting, write it down! This usually helps me!

If you still can't think of anything, try reading some of your old poems or poems written by someone else. Read a short, descriptive narrative or essay... these might help you get some ideas on how to put your ideas into words.

    Good luck! :)

  • My two suggests would be try a writing exercise or prompt to help stimulate your creativity and get you back into the feel of writing and make a set time to write each day in a private place and just go for it.

  • Maybe this will help. Put it out of your mind. Start an exercise program. Work out at least 3 times a week gradually increase to 4 times a week, an hour each time you work out. A really good, thorough workout. See if this helps you get back on track!

writers block is a well factor, suppose it or no longer. it way you might have made one of these well plot, with twists and turns, and new discoveries, that you simply cant make a decision what to do with the following aspect. I had been writing my e-book for approximately part a yr and feature 23 pages performed. I write close to everyday for approximately an hour. I have deleted complete chapters, and a couple of occasions the complete e-book. well success.

id say, stay in bed for as long as you can during the day, shut your eyes and look deep inside. dont come out until you find inspiration
