To look on infinity with finite eyes is idiocy, and yet everyday I sit and watch as thousands push their luck far past what is sensible and intelligent.

  • Can you suggest a replacement for my 2012 Nexus 7?

I ve had the Nexus since the month it came out, and I love it. Until the recent upgrade to Android 5.0, it s been great, but now it s slow and buggy, even with the two updates they ve put out since. I ve tried cleaning it up and paring back the amount of apps and space I use, but I m still just having trouble even using it for gets news updates.

I want to get a new tablet, but I don t know what direction to take. Without a new Nexus in the last 2 years, I feel like I should be able to find a better tablet that s been put out more recently, but the Samsung doesn t seem to have any better specs than the Nexus 2013, and the LG just isn t seeming to get me there, either.

Can you suggest an Android alternative that I might be able to comfortably switch from my Nexus to?

  • Can you help me with this poem?

So, last night I decided to throw off writer's block and put together a new poem. After two long hours with my trusty thesaurus in hand, I found a new poem on my page. I like the poem, but I am not sure what to make of it yet. I think it has a few coherency issues. Also, I am not certain of the rhythm. Does it flow properly? Oh well, just tell me what you think and give me suggestions on how to fix it, please?

    Is There Truth?

Is there truth in the eyes of the dying,

or do men deceive themselves to the grave?

Does the spirit escape for the body?

In the end, does it pay to b brave?

Man, the everlasting victim of self-loathing,

consumes himself and others to find liberation.

    Pain, the only omnipresent phenomenon,

takes many forms to ensure annihilation.

    Never once does the destroyer find life;

only the man who accepts suffering can transcend.

For evading misery is an impossibility,

but with effort pain’s power man can rend.

Then truth must be man’s ammunition

to use in battle against tribulation.

With strong spirit precision, and tenacity,

    man brings pain to subjugation.

Is there truth in the eyes of the independent?

Do the liars understand their despondency?

Does deception define all their essence?

    Do they cause truth’s fatality?

Does the spirit leave the cadaver,

or is it lost within its host?

Is there just one earth for man,

or is death to life as ocean to coast?

  • Cure for writer's block?

I have been stuck for months now without being able to write anything new. I used to write a poem a week, but it has been months since the last time my pencil touched the paper.

I do not know what the problem is. I have new ideas, but I cannot think of how to put them to words. I do not know if the reason I cannot write lately is because I am working a lot. I do not know if I am losing creativity. Maybe all of my math and physics classes is destroying my ability to write creatively?

Either way, does anyone know anything I can do to get back on track?

  • How do I make a long distance relationship work?

I am currently in a serious relationship, but I am finding it difficult to be two hundred miles away from my girl friend. I talk to her every night on the phone and text her all day every day, but it just is not the same as actually spending time with her.

I need this relationship to work out. I honestly cannot think of life without her, but I also can't function with her constantly on my mind. It hurts to think about her and know that I can only see her for a single weekend every three weeks or so. For most of the five hour drive back to the university I am attending, I am either in tears or on the verge of them. It upsets me so much to have to leave her.

I feel as if I've abandoned her. I just don't know what to do. I know that it hurts her that I'm here, and that only makes my being here more upsetting to me. I choose this university before we started dating, and I'm basically here for free, but she's at community college and I can't stand to leave her.

I don't want to break up with her and I don't want to go to a different school. She can't afford to come to this school, and to be quite honest, I don't know if she would like this school. I don't want to hurt her, but I know that every time I leave I hurt her even more. I don't know what to do.

How can I make this work with the least amount of pain on both ends?

  • What does it mean to live in the moment?

I know this question has been asked quite a few times already, but I need some fresh answers.

What does it mean to live in the moment? Is it the same as being caught up in the moment? Rather, does it mean to "live like you were dying"? Could it mean to "live every moment like it was the last one"?

I've heard it so many times in songs and in life. I just don't get it..

  • Can you help me with this poem?

    As I Lay Crying,

the Trail of Tears has begun,

and soon I will drown in them.

    murder myself on quitter’s lane.

    the Rains have begun,

    and the water holds death,

    and the water brings life.

    soon We’ll be the ones

    getting laughed at,

    as the water pours down,

and the Soft Rains begin again.

For it is so much easier to submit,

to fall, to cry, to beg forgiveness,

    and then grant it yourself.

Submit to the pain, become part of it.

Live with it and for it and by it.

For the pain feels so good,

    and soon Nothing else Matters,

    and soon everyone will see.

Of course, you caN’t hide forever,

and the devil always gets what’s been offered.

    Submit, you fools.

areN’t you fully aware of the complications

that arise from your own actions?

Submit, and then the End will come,

quick and painless and followed by tears.Submit, and so you shall rest,

    as the rest lay weeping.

and soon even the Mocking Bird

    falls from the sky,

drowning in the tears of the Earth

  • Can anyone help me fix this poem?

I need some suggestions to make this perfect...

Crime is What I Call It

I’m sitting here, lost in thought,

    remembering the times I fought

with the hate I wish to savor,

but somehow, you have my favor.

    I’m not ignorant or incompetent;

I know that you’re Not heaven sent.

Distortion is what you do best,

but, truth be told, I am impressed

    with some unknown alluring feature.

Seductive Slut, I’m not a creature

    without wants and longing,

which you fulfill by just prolonging

the time it takes you to say no.

Covetable Cutie, how can I slow

    the process of my degradation

from human being to brute creation

that your unforeseen magnetism has caused?

I wish to hate, but then I’m paused

in my convictions upon seeing your face.

You’re nothing to me when I try and trace

    the history I have attempted

to create between us, until I’m tempted

with the beauty I cannot place

    on anything but my disGrace.

  • Why should I bow to the wishes of others?

Someone told me today that I should just do what other people tell me, because that's how the world works. He said, "You need to just bow to other people's wishes, and you'll get ahead in the world."

If everyone did that, who would be the one to make the orders? Whom would I be following? I suppose my question is, why can't I follow myself and do what I want?

  • What is the purpose of religion?

Other than to destroy the human being and make him servile? Please explain this to me, because I cannot understand why someone would want to willingly give up their life to something that makes them servants and not masters.

  • I've written a sonnet, and I need some help?

Alright, first of all, I need to know if this is in iambic pentameter. I do not know how to judge if it is or not, so if you could explain, please do. Secondly, if you see anything that I could change without ruining the rhyme or meter, please let me know. Four of the odd words are defined below.

    Think About It

What sane person would want life uninformed?

Can we live while knowing that we know naught?

Would we cert know how much we need to mourn,

Or would we not know that we have learned zot?

For ignorance is a bitter rival,

Because its defeat is, in fact, absurd

If it is not first seen to be libel,

Though the delict is not of written word.

And none can certainly see that we’d ken

the true crime committed against our minds.

This may easily be true of all men,

And no one knows the sin that none can find.

Should we not be upset by what we miss?

Why no. Don’t you see? Ignorance is bliss.

    Cert-certainly; surely

    Zot-nothing

    Delict-crime

    Ken-to understand

  • How do you get "Top Contributor"?

I've seen the Orange Top Contributor under the avatars of a lot of answerers. My question is, what are the requirements to obtain Top Contributor? I am really confused. Thank you all in advance.

  • How do people answer so quickly?

I go to the home page, see an answer that says "3 seconds ago," and I click on it. When the page loads two seconds later, there are already three answers. At this point, I don't give an answer because it would be the same as the other three. (By the way I usually only answer homework help questions off of the home page.)

How do people answer questions so quickly? I take forever to make an answer. I have to check and make sure everything is right, and rant a little, and just the typing takes time. I'm a pretty fast typer, but I can't see how anyone can answer as quickly as some people do.

  • Who has the time?

Alright, I've been sitting on here for about two hours, and I of course found my way to the religion and spirituality section, as always. I've tried to keep myself out of this section, for obvious reasons, but, today I noticed that when I check for future details on questions, all of my answers have been thumbed. Who cares enough to go around putting thumbs down at all of my answers? I really want to know who's got that kind of free time, because I'd love to have that kind of time, not so I could do something ridiculous like that, but so I could read, or something productive. Anyhow, my question is, who gives a crap to waste the time to put a thumbs down?

  • I have made revisions, have they helped?

or am I still on the wrong path?

    Black and White

    The words, the language

    that We Speak,

    determine our anger, because

    the peace is meek

    and underfed, so

let us take a look at a fight—

    which Now and Forever falls

    to Black and White—

that will subsequently lead to War,

    and yet even more

    will choose to follow jealousy,

or perhaps complacency, through the door.

They will Live or Die, like the rest,

that is, until the bandwagon explodes—

    a performance done for peace,

    but only ever erodes

the pedestal that we put It on—

and soon enough we are all gone

    to the War of Opposites.

Now stop, and look at rising dawn!

Look at Black. Look at White.

Can you see them? All bleeding equally.

and All are weeping tears of pain,

and peace will be the next decree,

but it will fail. Who cares to be free?

  • What could I do to make this poem better?

I have been working on this one for a long time, but I just can't seem to get it perfect. Every time I read it I change something and then I change it back. I need some solid suggestions to correct any issues you might see. Please be specific.

  • Could you give me some suggestions?

for this poem? I've spent hours on it and just can't seem to get it right.

    Catch My Breath For Me

    What have I become?

    Facing death has me dumb.

    Watching you flap your gums,

    is taking my breath away.

    (it’s taking my breath away)

    Now, what did you create?

    Keep finding ways to relate,

    so your plan can annihilate,

    and take my breath away.

    (it’s taking my breath away)

    To what did we consent,

    by giving up these fragments?

    Not just earth and cement,

    forcing life and breath away

    (it’s taking my breath away)

Why must we pay the masses?

    Keeping them in your classes,

while you show them the process,

    that takes my breath away.

    (it’s taking my breath away)

What if we fall to pieces,

    leaving you with your thesis?

Always going on what he says,

and he says to take my breath.

    (it’s taking my life away)

    What authority is need?

    Wanting may be greed,

but it’s either force or free,

and force takes my breath away

    (you’ve taken my life away)

  • Does anyone else feel it is ridiculous?

That people ask questions or give answers that no one can understand? How am I to answer a question that is asked with grammar so bad that I cannot understand what the person is asking?

I guess my real question is, why is it that people do not just use grammar properly, and why does no one check spelling?

  • How can you "know from the heart?"?

I do not understand people that say "I know from my heart" that such and such is right or wrong. The heart is an organ that pumps the blood through your body. Though it is a vital organ, it contains no thought processing ability. Are they suggesting that they know by instinct? But if that is true, what is instinct without the knowledge to back it up? If the brain is the center of a nervous system, within which all thoughts are created and dispensed, why do people say that it comes from the heart?

  • Why does need outweigh want?

Such as, I was offered a car, and though I do not need it desperately, I want it and have the money to pay for it. Someone else is asking for the car, though they don't have the money to pay for it, and say they should get it over me because they need it more...why?
