Why should I bow to the wishes of others?

Someone told me today that I should just do what other people tell me, because that's how the world works. He said, "You need to just bow to other people's wishes, and you'll get ahead in the world."

If everyone did that, who would be the one to make the orders? Whom would I be following? I suppose my question is, why can't I follow myself and do what I want?

If you bow to everyone's wishes, then it just makes it easier for them to stab you in the back. Do what you believe is right, and disregard this so-called 'way of the world'. No one on the planet can dictate you. It's your CHOICE what you do with your life.

It's also the 'way of the world' that we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong. Does that make any sense to you?

You can be your own person entirely, or nearly so, if you're willing to live in a cabin on a mountain in Wyoming, say - but if you're going to participate in any kind of organization or society, then we all take turns "bowing to others". Think of traffic lights. It's nothing personal, it's just sometimes you have the green light and sometimes the red. Also, we have differing privileges based on our roles in society. As a fireman, I could legally cut up a Porsche with hydraulic tools while the owner looked on. That's unusual. As a nurse, someone else can call you a little prick then stick a needle in you without being arrested. My doctor once put on a rubber glove and did something that would get any other man killed if he did it. Etc.

It's no big deal, but there are appropritae times to "bow to others" and other times where it will be your call.

Ok, sometimes, I have to agree, you might have to bow to others. But think about it. there is always going to be someone more powerful than you. If you become a teacher, you will have to do as your told by the administration. You can't completely escape doing as your told. You do it right now. You follow laws and rules. You can't avoid it. But don't ever "bow down" to others if it takes you from what you want. But, again, you can't always be free to do as you please.

Sometimes I bow, sometimes I walk away. Intuition and experience guide me in these choices. To do all bowing or all walking is not a practical idea. Power is an illusion that the weak have about those that control them. Responsibility for others is the illusion that the strong have about the weak. Life is full of illusions, look at what the prophets did with their time....walked around and philosophized about God and the meaning of life. Bowing to no one and teaching no craft. Tough world eh?

Well you can if your a great master of some kind or fix cars make your own food and have no connection with order givers.Maybe you dont plan on getting ahead.

Men have always been highly regarded by all because they just follow orders.

frankly when someone from out of the blue says I wish you would or wouldnt blah blah blah , I say, Im not your Genie.

I firmly believe that you should never do things just to please other people. The only time you should do something just please someone, is if you're married, then it's called compromising. In this I feel that you have to please yourself before you please others. Bowing down to someone else is just gonna make you feel worse about yourself and it's just gonna give that person you are bowing down to more power over you.

  • that would certainly make you a loser!

I feel you, man. Bow to others wishes? No thanks. You don't have to buy that line. This is your life, you can do what you want with it.
