Best Pickups for Mexi Fender Stratocaster?
I want to swap out the pickups but don't know which ones will produce the best fender strat tone that is well known.

Hello! From my own personal experience, I can offer two possibilities. First is the Seymour Duncan APS-1’s (see http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/str... ). These pickups sound great right out of the box, and have that throaty tone that instantly identifies the instrument as a Fender Stratocaster! The only problem with these pickups is that they are pretty noisy with higher gain settings. If you play mostly clean, this should not become an issue. For a second approach, take a look at the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Series (see http://www.dimarzio.com/site/#/pickups/ ), essentially a humbucker pickup fitted into a single-coil footprint). Installing the Area 58's in the neck and middle positions coupled with a Virtual Vintage 54 Pro in the bridge, treated me to a wonderful balance of true vintage Fender tones and very focused and smooth overdrive (with no noise!). Even the neck position tone (never used previously, because it was too “warm”) was detailed and distinct. Any one of the pickups I mentioned will cost $55-60 new, but bargains can be found on eBay and other used equipment sites. Hope some of this helps. Best regards, Dana
