U.S. to U.K. Recipe Conversion: Applesauce and Walnuts?
I want to give my favorite applesauce cake recipe to my friend in Wales, but I am having trouble converting some of the amounts. Can anyone tell me what are the equivalents to "3/4 cup chopped walnuts" and "1-1/2 cups thick applesauce?" I've tried various online converters, and none seem to have weights for these ingredients.
Also, is "dark brown sugar" called something else in the U.K.?
Thank you very much for your help!

Try gourmetsleuth.com. I use this site all of the time, and I've noticed some UK conversions. They even ask what type of ingredient you're using before they give conversions. Just hunt around until you find exactly what you're looking for. You'll be amazed at their diversity.

Margaret, I was with the idea, that one cup US and one cup English is the same, what changes is the actual dry weights (grams) and actual fluid measurement (mls).
Brown sugar is brown sugar. But as always, I stand to be corrected, I know two that will be kind enough to put me straight, Isn't that right Sugar Pie, and TX2, I am sure they will email me.
Margaret, if TX2 and or Sugar answer you, they are basically always on the money, their guidance in answers is usually good
