If I torrent too much music?

Could I have charged pressed against me or something?

I heard that you can be tracked if you use Bit Torrent too much.

You could still legally be prosecuted... however the RIAA has stopped prosecuting people on an individual basis for this, doesn't mean they cannot, just means they have found it not worth their time and money to do it as they found that method to be an ineffective deterrent.

And they get you for sharing, not for being shared to.

Yep, they rarely go after DOWNLOADERS....now they go after the MASS UPLOADERS......

Because the people uploading the files are the BIGFISH.....there are WAY too many downloaders....and it's a waste of money and time.

If you legally own the album, you can legally download it...because it's just a Copy or Legal Backup....

But if you don't own what you're downloading, "technically" it's illegal....but alot of judges and lawyers ARENT up to date on "internet crimes", and they cant just rely on what the "prosecutors" are saying....because the JUDGE is the one that ultimately has to be aware of the laws and how everything works.........if he doesn't understand it, he wont charge you.......but it all depends.

Internet crime is a VERY tricky situation.

Unless your dumb enough to solicit sex to a minor over the internet, THEN the police have the sting operation set, all the Intent and Motives PROVEN......so THATS the only real threat of crime on the internet......and computer hacking......but you get caught hacking or cracking, you aint dealing with the local police, you are dealing with FBI or more educated Departments.

And the FBI and NSA are VERY up to date on internet legalities.....no offense, but the local cops have no education in that area like the Feds.....

Use PeerGuardian with the bluetack IP list and all will be fine...of course, don't download from obvious honeypots or the newest stuff...preferably use a private tracker, there are plenty out there.

Mostly these thugs like WebSheriff are just using fear tactics.

Source(s): Downloading for years and no problems. Ever.
