Thoughts on House MD on TV?
I just discovered this show a few months ago, and I thought what an arrogant person he should not be allowed around people, and then I found I got hooked on the show, and although I still think he is arrogant, I have grown to like him.
Anyone else out there like him? The writer for that show is great.
His apt.# is 221 Baker St, same as Sherlock Holmes, I thought that was interesting also, I often wander if any Dr's watch his show and root for him for being so honest and telling people how he feels.

I love House and you`re very clever to have caught the reference to Sherlock Holmes. Here are some more.
Similarities between House and the famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes appear throughout the series; Shore explained that he was always a Sherlock Holmes fan, and found the character's traits of indifference to his clients unique. The resemblance is evident in various elements of the series' plot, such as House's reliance on psychology to solve a case, his reluctance to accept cases he does not find interesting and House's home address (apartment 221B, the same number as Holmes's home). Other similarities between House and Holmes include the playing of an instrument (Holmes plays the violin, House the piano and guitar), drug addiction (House to Vicodin and Holmes to cocaine) and House's relationship with Dr. James Wilson, who parallels Dr. John Watson. Robert Sean Leonard, who portrays Wilson, has said that House and his character were originally intended to play the roles of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the series although he believes that House's team has assumed the Watson role.
Various characters on the show have names similar to characters from the Sherlock Holmes universe, in the season two finale "No Reason", House is shot by a crazed gunman credited as "Moriarty", which is the same name as Holmes's nemesis. Also, the main patient in the pilot episode is named Rebecca Adler, after Irene Adler, a female character from the first Sherlock Holmes short story. David Shore has said that Dr. House's name is meant as "a subtle homage" to Sherlock Holmes (i.e., homes). In the season four episode "It's a Wonderful Lie", House receives a "second edition Conan Doyle" as a Christmas gift. In the Season 5 episode "Joy to the World", House receives a book by Joseph Bell (who served as inspiration for Sherlock Holmes), as a Christmas present from Wilson, along with a message that says "Greg, It made me think of you", Wilson also mentions a certain Irene Adler as the alleged sender of the present before he took credit for it.

HouseMD's main character is loosely based on the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. This show is a darker character study of a man (Dr House) who is a genius diagnostician, but who is socially dysfunctional, completely terrified of intimacy, very tough to befriend, and a (now recovering) drug addict. He even has his own "Doctor Watson" in the form of his only friend and confidant, Dr. Wilson. House is clearly the main character and the focus of the show, but many important ethical issues are tackled, some in shocking ways. ER was different in that, while it was a pretty good drama, it was more like a soap opera, or a continuing story, with life's basic ups and downs. Grey's Anatomy is much more lightweight, focusing on the lives of the young, angst-ridden, and somewhat horny hospital physicians. That's a pretty good show with some decent drama as well. I was a GA fan in the beginning, but my interest has waned. With HouseMD, I salivate until I posses each season's DVD's in my hot little hands. It has the best music score by far, as well. Yes, to answer your last question, ER is much more like GA than either are like HouseMD. All three are good shows, I just happen to like the rapid-fire snarky genius mouth on Greg House, MD..

I know! It's so weird how you can absolutely love House, but you know if you ever met him in real life, you'd think he was a jerk. I think it's so cool to see him constantly just act how he wants and saying anything that comes to mind. The strangest thing is that even though you know he's an ***, half the things he says are things people think all the time, just never say outloud.
