Are we returning to a pre 9/11 mentality?
we're not using the term "war on terror",we are now not calling terrorists, terrorist or even enemy combatants, closing down gitmo, no waterboarding because we don't want the people who have sworn to kill us uncomfortable and now this, http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_airline_pil... ,what the heck are we thinking?

Well, at least we still have our air marshalls and TSA is as active as ever. On the other hand, closing Gitmo is a bonehead idea and most Americans realize this. Disarming pilots who could be the last line of defense makes even less sense. It falls in line with so many White House decisions since Barry took office.
Closing Gitmo is a political move, one not conducive to national security. It is nothing more than Obama pandering to the liberals.
The more we see civilians playing Commander in chief the more convinced I am, this should never be a civilian position.
Hitler is the best example of inept civilian authority over ruling military minds resulting in losing the war. Donald Rumsfeld or GWB can claim many wrong turns in Iraq, mainly because they didn't understand their enemy, and delaying its conclusion for many years. Lyndon Johnson was the king of boneheads by losing a war that was all but won following the TET offensive.
It's time we changed the way we do business or we'll have no business left. Get rid of the civilian CIC authority even if it means more power to the military.

Going back to the pre Sept 11 1991 days Started when people started saying 9/11 and when they removed there Flags from poles out side there houses , Remember how many had Flags were displayed right after that morning, and now it is rear to see one or two houses with the Flag waving outside. All the other stuff is grandstanding and winning the hearts and minds of the people of America, the same ones the protest and throw crap, There are those out there who support the soldiers and military , but not the cause, which is BS. Which is still to battle terrorism where ever it is being harbored, and raised. Its not just an American effort its a world effort and as soon as the world see's the Americans getting behind the ideal fully and quit dragging our feet then the rest will follow behind. and then the extremist combatants will start looking around and get a friggen clue to what is real and what is fiction

No, that is just a propaganda slogan to scare Americans.
Funny how the military hasn't managed to capture Osama. Didn't help that Bush pulled back the Rangers in Tora Bora and allowed Osama to escape.
But putting that aside, Timothy McVeigh (the Oklahoma City bomber) was captured by a sheriff's deputy. Scotland yard captured the people who were going to bring liquids on a plane and make thermite to blow it up. And in general, police forces have been more effective in capturing terror suspects than the military.
There is a reason for that. The military is a blunt instrument made to smash everything in it's path.
Using the military to capture terrorists is like using a sledgehammer to swat a fly, when a flyswatter (police) is far more effective and less damaging as a whole.

YES!
oh my gosh, one-your display name: 'welcome back carter' just made my day. thank you.
and two-thank God someone realizes this!
now that the hype from the war is over, everyone is done being worried and back to being 'anti-war.' people need to wake up and realize what the hell happened and that those lives are still gone. they need to realize that the objective hasn't become obtained, and America can't lie down and take it.
mostly-i think its pathetic that it took 9/11 to get people patriotic, and it will take another 9/11 for people to start caring again.
phew, im off of my soapbox now.
thank a soldier/veteran today.

i think obama thinks being president is some kind of party or joke and that everyone will in the long run suffer due to the election of this man. but also he was the better of the two, since they both are sucky and hidden agenda people...
