LGBT: omg! Will he be arrested?
Okay, me & my best friend were just fooling around and making prank calls. We said that we were "GirlSprouts" and wanted to know if they wanted baked goods. It was hilarious and then some lady called back & said she was reporting his number & he was going to be prosecuted! He was freaking out crying on the phone and nothing has happened since. (It was 30mins ago.) Was she lying/kidding or can this be for real?!? is it even POSSIBLE to prosecute someone for that?
***and this is in LGBT because im gay & he's bi.
He already told his parents & they don't know what to do.
And we NEVER said anything sexual/physically/mentally abusive at all!

What you did was not right, but I seriously doubt that this would be prosecuted.
As long as you did not make any threats, or take anyone's credit card numbers, or say anything sexual or abusive, I think most jurisdictions would probably just warn you.
It is *possible* but highly unlikely that anyone would pursue this. And even if they did, it would be very, very minor.
Most jurisdictions would not consider this worth their time and effort.
Just don't do it again!

Crank calls are not only a bothersome to those who have to receive them, but can are illegal as well. Most likely what will happen if the lady did report it is, so long as there were no threats, harrassment, sexual talk, etc. the phone company will be contacting the person whose name the phone is registered in and giving them a stern warning. The next time they may have their service disconnected and be given a fine. Parents are responsible for their childrens actions.
The reason most likely no legal action would be taken is that the phone company and the police know that kids do make immature crank calls. But they don't give too many warnings.

I'm a criminal justice student and although I'm still an undergraduate, I can tell you that the only thing you and your friend would get charged with is harassment by communication if anything. Although, in cases like these, as long as you don't call her again they might just let it go, no sense wasting time filing paperwork for a little thing like that.
HARASSING COMMUNICATIONS
Offense Defined -- A person commits the crime of harassing communications if, with intent to harass or alarm another person, he or she does any of the following:
a. Communicates with a person, anonymously or otherwise, by telephone, telegraph, mail, or any other form of written or electronic communication, in a manner likely to harass or cause alarm.
b. Makes a telephone call, whether or not a conversation ensues, with no purpose of legitimate communication.
c. Telephones another person and addresses to or about such other person any lewd or obscene words or language
Grading -- Misdemeanor 3 (Class C)
Now because you're a kid, you might get off with some mercy. Usually you'd get cited for it (in most states; with a select few spending a few days in jail), but these kinda things are usually ignored if you're a kid. I can't guarantee it, but that's how it most likely will work.
I must say though, don't prank call people. It's less funny than you think it is. People got enough to worry about and they shouldn't have to worry about spending their time answering meaningless prank phone calls.

People rape and kill other people and still dont land in jail.
The very idea of your friend getting locked up is beyond words.
She twisted the prank back on you two. What a couple of suckers for falling for her need trick. Give that lady a drink.

prank calls are not often prosecuted by the police, however, phone companies have been known to cancel your phone number if a complaint of prank calling is gotten by them, you may have a little trouble explaining THAT to your parents.
