Best Disk imaging software....?
Hello dears,
The place where I work, we receive lots of new systems which have no OS installed on them. We bought the original OEM Windows XP DVD's and use those to install on each and everyone of these new systems.
My problem is how can I make an image of one fully installed system (Windows + Applications) and re-apply that image to the remaining systems?
Its not easy to do all the installation manually. I have tried Norton Ghost, Acronis but cant seem to get them working properly.
If i get the image done on a DVD then I cant boot it on my PC. Then I have to make a separate boot DVD (Another manual work for me!)
Isnt there any simpler way where a single DVD can hold the image and then apply the image when I boot it instead of creating a separate Boot DVD?
Sorry for the long question as I wanted to make things clear for you..

First of all let me tell you that Disk Imaging Softwares works properly on different machines only if the hardware of the machine is similar to that of the machine from which you have made Image File.
Since you have used both Acronis and Norton Ghost, there are not many such softwares that would satisfy your needs.. because Acronis is the best of it's kind softwae that I'm used of and familiar of.
Instead of using Imaging software, try making a Boot disk with Unattended Setup file. Where you can specify all the stuff that you want to install on that particular machine including drivers, various softwares, Network configuration and etc.....what you need is just create a disk with Unattended Setup Batch File and place all the stuff on the same CD or DVD and you are done...
To Make the Unattended Setup File, just visit the link and follow the instructions provided there and you are done....

the problem with acronis is its need a same cofiguration of both pc. such as the 1st pc have the 845g mother board then second one also need a same configuration. as you know very well xp is not working without the proper hardware configuration . browse your xp dvd and search for the application software if there is such like that then put an a self extracting softwer in it. and then try. i have one cd with lots of software like, alcohol, k-lite mega codec pack, kespersky , and much more. so try for this it may help you out. but acronis is best i think its take a 5 to 10 min to complete whole process. what you think?
