Could Ovechkin be any more of a Knob?

That kind of hotdogging is the crap you'd expect from those basketball idiots or a Terell Owens . Is there another guy in the NHL with so little class and respect? Besides Avery I mean.

I rarely get to see Ovechkin play, so this comes as a surprise to me. It was only a year or so ago that I saw a story about him that showed how great he was to fans in Washington - especially kids. If he's still a good guy off the ice, then I can live with him hot-dogging during a game.

If he has become another ego maniacal prima-donna, then I understand the way you feel.

Pro sports could use more guys like Jarome Iginla. Pure class.

This was supposed to be a team thing, nicklas backstrom and Mike Green were supposed to do it as well. It wasnt to disrespect the bolts, it was just for fun. Ovechkin is not like TO or anybody like that he has a different type of personality so he's not trying to rub it in anybody's face he's just having fun. Mayb it was a little over the limit but I think its ridiculous that in say the NFL they are penalized for celebrating. HE JUST SCORED HIS 50th GOAL COME ON! He's the first caps player to score 50 in 3 season let him celebrate, the nhl needs guys that have an exciting and fun personailty. I instruct you to watch the post-game interview of ovechkin and tell me that he was trying to dis-respect the bolts.

What, Ovechkin was having fun with his celebration and was using a little bit of his comedic personality in it? Wow, that IS a crime. If celebrating your 50th goal of a season isn't reason enough to play around a little, then what the hell is?

Sure, it wasn't the greatest thing to do ever, and it's kind of cocky. But it's definitely not classless. He is a young kid having a lot of fun playing hockey. It'd be a little different if he were a 36 year old doing this stuff, but he's not. If you really want to take celebrating out of hockey, then it's going to lose even more fans and players just because of the lack of freedom.

Don't worry. Kyle Beach will come up and when the Hawks play the Caps, he will do something to really piss off Ovechkin.

I was at the game last night and that celebration really went over bad with the crowd. but you have to look at what he just accomplished. 50 goals doesn't happen as much as it used too. i could say it was hot doggin but that is how the game should be played now, with energy, compassion, and having fun. That's what he was doing. Oh and this proves that GOD HATES THE LIGHTNING!

  • Just in the past few years...first in was Crosby..then Malkin...back to Crosby and now Ovechkin. You guys should all take a chill pill!!

  • It's about time there was someone like Ovechkin in the NHL. I agree he can overdo it, but in some ways it's good. At least he's having fun.

Seriously who cares. Ovechkin is a personality. He is fun and exciting to watch... if he celebrates OH WELL. The other team is a group of grown men... if they can't take it then they can go into the locker room and sit around with a box of Kleenex and talk hair dew's and paint their nails.

Ovie is putting the fun back in the game. He scored his 50th goal in a season again and deserves to have a little celebration. He didn't disrespect anybody.

The answer is...no he can't be more of a knob. He is the nhl version of Chad Johnson..er Ocho Stinko.
