There are no astronomical instances of the moon falling into the Earth.

How could there be, when the moon is actually receding from the Earth at the rate of about 4 cm per year.

The moon is quite at present going removed from the Earth. it could take an exceptionally enormous asteroid to hit the moon to bypass it even somewhat. perchance then, it could be close to sufficient to be attracted quicker into the Earth. yet small area rocks will basically poke the Moon and it won't do something severe. many times, earth satellites slowly (very slowly) fall closer and closer in direction of the Earth.

Scientifically it will not happen.

In good Science Fiction it will not happen.

However, in fantasy, it could be an intereting plot line. In fact, Larry Niven used it in his Magic Goes away series. A revived God was going to bring the moon crashing down to earth to try and replinsih the vanishing Mana, or magic.

In fact when Moon was first formed it was much closer to earth .

Moon is slipping away from earth at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per year.

So the chances of Moon crashing to earth is nil.
