Rockin' Roller Coaster at Disney World?

I'm not sure if I'll like the Rockin' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I HATED Space Mountain and I've heard that not only is the RRC dark but it's jerky and you don't know what will happen next while riding it. If any of you have been on Space Mountain and the RRC, do you think that I'll like the RRC if I didn't like Space Mountain?

First of all, I just have to say, Rockin' Roller Coaster is my favorite at Disney. There are MAJOR differences between the two roller coasters. For one, I find that the Rockin' Roller Coaster is MUCH smoother, still a little rough, but no roller coaster is perfect. Also it's much more comfortable. Space Mountain's seats are tight, but the R&RC is much more roomy. The darkness can be an issue if you don't like dark, but I could see some of the things coming up from the neon signs lighting the way. The only thing that is a real shock is the jerk at the beginning when it takes off. It goes from 0 to 60 in about 2.8 seconds I think. But trust me, the shock wear off fast.

okay, both are two very different coasters. one is a old coaster (built in the 70s) and the other is a newer coaster (built in the 90s. opened in 99) so they are very different. and you can't really compare the two. but there is one general rule of thumb you can follow for almost all coasters.

The closer you are to the front, the smoother the ride. The closer you are to the back the rougher the ride.

that is especially true on space mountain. if you are in the first car, the ride is smooth. if you are in the last car, or worse the last seat, you will have a much rougher, jerky ride.

Although R&R Coaster is in the dark, there is enough light to see what is going on. if you want to see more what is going on. wear sunglasses while you are waiting to get on the ride (this trick will not work if you use fast passes because you need time) so that you eyes start adjusting to the darkness. then take them off as you get on the ride. you will be able to see more.

I think R&R coaster is one of the smoothest coasters, especially on the front half. its more about g forces pushing you down on your seat than anything else.

if you don't like space mountain then you may not like rock n rolelr coaster.

personally i love both rides but then again i like the darkness and the jerkiness. i also like the launch and the fact that you hear aerosmith songs from the speakers near your head for the whole ride.

the only part of rock n roller coaster that you can't tell is going to happen is when you take off and go from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and then head straight into a loop. after that part you can tell where you are going cuz there are neon signs and black lights so you can see what way the track is heading.

but it is in a dark building and it is a bit jerky.

i'd say its at least worthy of trying once and if you hate it then don't go on it again but you'll never know if you hate it unless you go on it.
