St. Petersburgh Florida........?

Is there anything for young people to do in St. Petersburgh Fl? or is there just like a lot of families and old people?

A few friends and I are trying to make a little vacation trip to Florida this may and wanted to know a good beach to go to... I thought of Daytona and Ft. Walton but I figured if we went to St. Pete, we would be better off because there are many beaches near there! So if we went to St. Pete we could Tampa is only 20 miles away, and Sarasota is only a few miles away too... any other suggestions would be appreciated as well...

BTW, we live in Ga, so places like the Keys and Miami are way too far away!

THANKS!

Update:

and what about night life? anything to do in St. Petersburgh, Tampa or Clearwater at night? such as bars, clubs, just hot spots in general? and if yall think that st. Petersburgh is not a good choice, then where? THANKS!!!!!

*ALSO* we are between the ages of 21 and 25

There is plenty to do both day and night in the Tampa Bay Area, as well as Sarasota. I stayed in Clearwater in January 2009 and had a great time. I was in Sarasota in January 2008. Both areas have excellent beaches, attractions, and nightlife.

Caladesi Island is near Clearwater and has been named the number 1 beach in the country. There are no cars allowed on the island, so you take a ferry to the island. The beach is spectacular. I highly recommend it. All the beaches near Clearwater were beautiful, white sand beaches. Same goes for Sarasota. Siesta Key is one of the better beaches near Sarasota.

Siesta Key also has plenty to do at night. The Beach Club is very trendy and has very good drinks and music. It's a very popular place.

Sarasota has plenty of clubs and bars. The Gator Club has a live band and dancing. Horse Feathers is another good place and there's no cover charge to get in.

Tampa also has plenty of clubs and bars.
