Why are Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase being pushed so hard?
I know that they have a lot of admirers here, but I really don't understand what's so special about either of them. Sure, they aren't bad wrestlers, but they don't appear to be anything all that special either. I mean, Rhodes is among the worst in the WWE on the mic and he's just soooo bland in the ring.
As for Dibiase, people almost every day on this site people are talking about how they would love to see him break the Undertaker's undefeated Wrestlemania streak. Why? I just don't get it. He debuted in WWE well over a year ago now and he's worked what, one or two singles matches? That qualifies him to end the streak?

Randy Orton is being pushed, not just to the Moon, but to Mars. The WWE is banking their future on Orton carrying the WWE after Triple H, HBK, Jericho, etc. are gone. Too many eggs in one basket, but I digress.
For whatever reason wrestling promoters in the past three decades have decided that number one heels need a "stable". Flair had the Horsemen, Bret Hart had the Hart Foundation, Kurt Angle has the Main Event Mafia, Raven had his Flock, Triple H had DX then Evolution, Hulk Hogan had the nWo, etc. Didn't used to be that way, but anyway, now number one heels need a "stable".
The most important thing about those "stables": nobody can upstage the Star.
Legacy's gimmick is that they are "second-generation". They started the whole thing with Orton "killing legends". In keeping with the gimmick, Rhodes and Dibiase are the only ones who fit. Chavo is already part of a stable and Jesse is comedy relief. Odd that they got rid of Manu and Sim Snuka; a five-man "stable" was too large, I guess, and would take some spotlight off of Orton.
Rhodes has been called "bland and boring", "generic". Dibiase hasn't done anything since debuting in the WWE other than get beat up.
They aren't being pushed so much as stars as they are there to take beatings for Orton. They can't have Orton getting beat up all the time and expect us to accept him as the badass they want him to be.
Rhodes does have potential, he HAS improved tremendously since Hardcore Holly was leading him around by the hand. But Dibiase? Where is that awesome multi-talented wrestler who was supposed to revolutionize the WWE that everybody said he was? End the Undertaker's streak? He hasn't proven himself worthy to end Kung Funaki's streak.
Sometime down the road I'm sure the WWE has bigger plans for Rhodes and Dibiase. Right now, though, they are just there to take beatings for Randy Orton.

How many singles matches did Edge and Christian have in their early days? how about The Hardy Boyz? Going back further what about The Rockers? to judge on how many singles matches Ted has had in a year or two when he has been in a tag team for most of that isn't really fair, you can still look like a good wrestler in tag matches with a lot of potential which is what Ted Dibiase has done so far.
Ted has all the tools to be a main eventer. i have seen some of what he did for NOAH before joining the WWE, if a wrestler can look good wrestling for NOAH he is someone worth paying attention to. I don't think Ted right now is ready for facing the undertaker BUT its a year away and you could easily build someone up in that has the right skills, Ted does aside from his mic skills and wrestling ability he has something you can't teach and that's a presence, at the royal rumble my eye was always getting drawn to Ted Dibiase and i just wanted to watch him. Ted Dibiase from all i have seen of him is the future and i honestly believe he will go one better than his father and win the world title.
Cody Rhodes has come on leaps and bounds since hes debut and i don't agree with the mic work comment at all. Just before the legacy started he had some war of the words with Orton and Rhodes more than held his own, he's improving all the time and will be up there with Ted when the time is right.
Stars for the future always need to start some place, they aren't going to be big anytime soon but i believe from what i have seen they have all the tools to make a huge impact on the wrestling world for many years to come.

I think both are highly overrated and, although they are getting both pushed and stepped on in this Legacy storyline, they should not be in the main event scene right now. The reason for this could only be to expose younger wrestlers to the main event scene but I would much rather see people like Tyson Kidd, DH Smith, Evan Bourne, and any of the more in-ring talented in the WWE today to be used in the current spot.
I prefer Rhodes over Dibiase in the ring but neither of them should even be associated with Taker's streak and certainly not end it.

I would agree with you
Honestly i dont think Cody is gonna go anywhere or be anything big
I can see Teddy doing well just because he has better size and mic skills but like you said hes not done much so far. As for ending the streak, i think the only reason thats been brought up is because his father introduced the Undertaker to WWE so it would be appropriate for his son to "Finish him"
I believe this is more of a push on Orton then it is on Cody and Ted. They look like Ortons bitches... all they really do is get their asses handed to them night in and out.

Both of them are second generation and the wwe has high hopes for them to be as good as their fathers.Thats the only reason they are as big as they are. This is the first time I'm reading anything about people on here wanting Dibiase to break the undertakers streak.Dont believe want you do see on the shows. Both of them suck anyways.

I totally agree. Dusty Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Sr are two of the greatest wrestlers ever, but that doesn't mean their sons are any good. Remember David Flair?

They are probably being pushed because of the Legacy and they want them to look like a legitimate threat.
Or it might just be becuase they're with Orton so in some weird way they are pushing them to make Orton look good .
Orr it might be becuase their father's are legends WWE have this thing son's or daughter's of a legend.

I agree with your statement 100 %. They are not anything special in the ring or out. The only thing they really have credit for is that there the sons of the greatest hall of famers in the history of wwe. But they didn't accompish that, there fathers did. So its a god start for there carrear that there with the legacy, but there to young and they haven't done anything to deserve main event status.

Apparently management sees a whole lot of potential in them or else they wouldn't be pushed as much as they do. Personally I think the powers that be are getting ahead of themselves. You are right, they are both quite green and haven't shown the kind of charisma and star power that Randy Orton showed early in his career to get the sort of push they do right now.
I guess it helps when you've got legendary parents, though. But let's not go there.
