Joan of Arc led the French army to victory at the Seige of Orleans against the English. She had the Dauphin of France crowned King at Rheims. She put heart into the French, and they went on finally to defeat the English and end the Hundred years War.
She was not however burnt by the Catholic Church (as a comment above suggests). She was burnt by the English. Twenty years after her death, the verdict of heresy and witchcraft that was brought against her was reveresed.
Elizabeth I was the second woman to rule England as Queen in her own right (her older sister Mary being the first). She however was a much more successful monarch than her sister, and on the whole did a good job of being Queen. She settled the religious question, establishing the Church of England but steering a moderate course between extreme Protestantism and Catholicism. She encouraged trade and overseas exploration, and England became a successful world power during her reign.
her abilities drew admiration from other rulers. "She alone is a man, she alone knows how to rule!" Henri IV of France said of her. "She is only a woman, only mistress of half an island, and yet she makes herself feared by France, by Spain, by the Empire, by all. . .our children would have ruled the world." said Pope Sixtus V.

Queen Elizabeth was not the first woman to rule as sole monarch. There were many of them.
What she did to influence the world was to strengthen the might of England by amalgamating warring counties and provinces.
Joan of Arc was famous for leading the French Army, but was burned at the stake by the Catholic church
Try googling up either of these ladies - there are dozens and dozens of web sites that will give you more than enough information

Queen Elizabeth I was the first (I think) woman monarch without a husband. She ruled by herself and really was a pioneer for feminists.
