As far as I know, the Theorem of Gödel show us that there still is a long way to go until we reach perfection in establishing the basis of Mathematics: what assumptions one should take or not as true is still not a peaceful matter, so to say. A completely different thing is to discuss the methods used in Mathematics. These methods we can´t discuss really, because it would mean that our reasoning itself could be wrong. Anyway, let us suppose that our reasoning was false. Then, it would mean, that Science itself could not exist.

Mathematics is the only Science that uses the method of deduction to build our knowledge about the Universe. All other Sciences use the method of induction; this is dangerous, because one should not be really telling tales about the whole thing, when only a few examples were considered. Philosophy uses deduction too. But the purpose of Philosophy is to qualify not to evaluate. This means that Mathematics is one step ahead.

    math is a belief system.

    Similiar to Christianity.

What you are asking is synonymous to the nearly meaningless question "What if God doesn't exist."

Truth is, it doesn't matter. What matters are the implications it leaves behind, being the foundation of much of our science and arithmetic.

if our math is wrong, then our physics is wrong as well.

if physics is wrong, then no more computer/aviation/car/etc advancements whatsoever.

without math, the society is inevitably doomed.
