I bought a 99 caddy it ran hot so we put a new thermostat in and it's still running hot but no heat?
So what could be the cause? Thanks
we put 2 jugs of pre mix fluid in and burped it,the temp goes up like its hot but still no heat???
all i know is it's the 32 valve northstar v8.
,it does take a while for the hoses to get hot but the gage goes up right away,the fans are kicking on but the top hose takes a while to get warm,

There should be bled valves in the cooling system along the hose routing. You'll have to look carefully, they look like the bleeder screws on the brake system. What happens is that the top of the radiator is not the highest point in the system. Allowing air to build in the system. Start the car, crack the bleeders open and let the air bleedout, then shut the bleeders and see if that helps.It sounds to me that you have air in the cooling system. hope this helps.

does it have a 4.6 liter engine? was the top radiator hose getting hot indicating that the fluid was making it to the radiator? does it take awhile to get hot? are the fans coming on? could be air locked after you put the thermostat in and just need bleed, sorry theres a lot of stuff that could be wrong

I would stop with the guessing before too many guesses costs you $4000 for another engine! That's why there are auto shops.
It's not like this all aluminum engine is rebuildable, you know...
