Ok here is how I would do it.
Start with the innermost grouping symbols, which in this case are ()
Distribute the 4 in 4(x+1)
So it would now be 4x + 4
Then 3 + 4x + 4
This is 7 + 4x. I just combined the like terms.
Then distribute the 2 in 2[7+4x]
This is 14 + 8x
4 - 14 + 8x
4 - 14 = -10
-10 + 8x is the same as -8x -10......wait I think..... What answers have you been getting?

4-2[3+4(x+1)] follow the rules of BEDMAS
4-2[3+4x+4]
4-2[7+4x]
4-14-8x
=
-8x-10

1. you solve for the parenthesis in the parenthesis, multiplying 4 with every value in the parenthesis
this leaves 4-2[3+4x+4]
2. next, you need to multiply everything in the parenthesis by -2 (note, that the two is NEGATIVE and remember how to multiply negatives.)
this leaves 4-6-8x-8
3. finally combine like terms
this leaves you with the final answer of -8x-10 OR -10-8x (its the same thing)

i would distribute the 4 to (x+1). it would give you 4-2[3+4x+4]. then combine the 3 and 4. and then distribute the 2 to the entire quantity. so it would be 4-14-8x . then you simplify to make it -8x-10

4-2[3+4 (X+1)]
expand the 1st bracket
4-2[3+4X+4]
sum like terms
4-2[7+4X]
expand the 2nd bracket
4-14-8X
= -10-8X

The book was right and maybe u need to go slower next time..

okay so you take
4-2[3+4(x+1)] use distributive property to get
4-2[3+4x+4] add inside the brackets to get
4-2[4x+7] use the distributive property again to get
4-8x-14 add like terms and you get the final answer:
-8x-10!!

first multiply what is in the () ------> 4x+4 then add 3------>4x+7 multiply that by 2 -----> 8x+14 then subtract that from 4 --------> -8x-10

I had a stressful time awareness your query till finally I remembered that m is usually the variable used for slope. So your equation flor slope is: m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 -x1) Plugging on your ordered pairs (x2, y2) and (x1, y1) you get: m = (3/5 + 4/5) / (a million/2 - a million/4) m = (7/5) / (a million/4) Invert the fraction on the backside to convey it to the coolest: m = (7/5)(4) m = 28/5
