to find the x and y intercept, we first put x = 0
then: f(x) = f(0) = -log(0+2) -3 = -log2-3;
now we want f(x) = 0 ---> -log(x+2)-3 = 0
---> log(x+2) = -3
---> x+2 = e^-3
--->x = e^-3 -2
