Killing grass using something nontoxic?

I want to kill grass around my fence line. However, I have cats and don't want to use anything toxic. Does white distilled vinegar actually work? And if so, how often does it need to be applied?

I don't know about using vinegar, but I do know the way your and my Grandmother used to kill unwanted grass and weeds that is completely organic--boiling water! Just get a pot boiling hot and pour it on the grass, and it will definitely kill it.

    I hope this information helps.

White vinegar does work! Apply it using a spray bottle and make sure it won't rain for a few days. Re-apply if it starts to grow back.

    vinegar works.

works best if you do it on a hot day.

and of course don't let it rain and wash it away after you spray.

Might take more than one application though.
