UTA and UNT are both good schools. Let me repeat that again.... good schools. They are not GREAT but they are good. In other words, they have an overall recognizable status in the educational world. What I mean is that when someone says UNT or UTA, the majority of people can say... oh that's the school from Texas. Its not some random or low performing educational institution.

Now concerning your question, you want to know which college is better for an accounting degree. Hmm, in my opinion both schools sound reasonably similar. In other words, neither has an outstanding advantage or benefit that knocks out the other. Neither is extremely popular for its accounting degree nor is it widely recognized for it. Here is the basic and overall "rundown" for both of the schools

--UTA and UNT are commuter schools: In other words, most students commute or travel a short distance to reach the school. Because of this, you are not getting a very tight-knit college experience.

--Both are relatively similar in terms of cost. Speaking of cost, for an accounting degree, its very expensive in either school to pay 4 years of college when most courses can/could have been taken at a community college.

--UNT is located in Denton,Texas. This is a pretty small city and not much amenities are found like in Dallas where you can find the social life more active: clubs, museums, zoos, aquariums, a lot of business organizations, etc.

--UTA is located in Arlington,Texas. Its a bigger city than Denton for sure. The population is at or above 350,000 people. Compared to Denton's small population slightly above 80,000. It has many attractions like Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, Texas Rangers Stadium *baseball*, the coming soon Cowboys Stadium, to name a few. It definitely has more resources because of its size.

Overall, however, I suggest you go to a community college to complete your basic general requirements and then transfer those credits to either UTA or UNT. It comes out much cheaper. Besides, an accounting degree doesn't need to be too comprehensive like say an engineering or nursing degree - not that an accounting degree is easy or anything.

I hope this helps you in your college choice!!!

In my opinion UTA is much better than North Texas for an accounting degree. A UTA degree will get you into many more jobs and opportunities than a North Texas degree would. I have also visited both campuses and met many of the professors and teachers there. Overall, the University of Texas at Arlington is a much better choice for accounting.

What do you want to major/party in? That's really what you should be asking yourself and how you should make a choice. Denton is a wonderful town and UNT is a good school. If you're thinking about a music degree, go UNT. They have one of the best music programs in the nation. Denton has the ambiance of a small town, but it's close enough to Dallas to provide anything you can't find there. AND... Texas Women's University is there also. Austin is a great town also, but it's grown so much since I lived there (Denton, too). UT is a great school and you can explore any curriculum you have interest in. Cost of living is considerably more than Denton, however. You have to be a 'smart shopper' to live on a budget in Austin nowadays. Can't answer much about UT Arlington. I've seen it and it reminds me more of a community college, but it does have the bonus of being in the UT system so credits will transfer. I would imagine they are more geared toward local students and working professionals. Now, what are you interested in? In every city, large and small, I've lived in (and I've from lived coast to coast) there is always a "poor and disgusting" part of town. Just don't live there if you can afford not to.

Both are excellent schools. You should select a school where you think you could be happiest and where you could excel. As both are near, a campus visit to both schools shouldn't be very difficult. Good Luck!
