Nintendo Wii Fit Question?

My wife and I bought a Nintendo Wii last night with the Wii Fit. Well I was screwing around with it this morning and the Wii fit stated I was Obese and the Wii Age of 28. I am 20 years old, 6'3" and 251 pounds I am mainly muscle but yet It states I am Obese. If you own one and you are of a heavy muscular nature and own a Wii fit does ti say your over weight as well? IS it really suited to help people lose weight or does it have a bias nature because of weight instead of the physical nature of the person?

BMI is only a mathmatical guideline regarding weight and how tall you are. You will never get a good BMI if you are a bodybuilder or if you are 'bulking up'. If you have a lot of weight in muscle, then the BMI will unfortunately not apply correctly to you. BMI does not differentiate between fat and muscle weight.

You had the agility of an average 28 year old according to the system you should get better as you get used to doing the tests. As for the BMI you are only going to get an approximate value using height and weight alone. If you get your BMI professionally done they lower you in to a tank of water and then weight you this corrects for your muscle mass.

It isn't Wii Fat it is Wii Fit the program isn't a weight loss system it is a collection of exercises to accent, test and judge your agility and relative level of fitness. The system is biased towards large Americans because it was made for Japanese people, most of them aren't 6'3" 251 pounds and heavily muscled.

The Wii Fit age is determined by your balance, so try it again and see if it changes. Even though you are not a child, the BMI is calculated differently for ages 2-20. Maybe that is why. See below:

BMI for age percentiles for boys 2 to 20 years of age.

"BMI is used differently for children. It is calculated the same way as for adults, but then compared to typical values for other children of the same age. Instead of set thresholds for underweight and overweight, then, the BMI percentile allows comparison with children of the same sex and age.[6] A BMI that is less than the 5th percentile is considered underweight and above the 95th percentile is considered obese. Children with a BMI between the 85th and 95th percentile are considered to be overweight."

To answer your questions about if the Wii Fit is suited to lose weight, I personally think it is. It has worked for many to lose weight. I hope this helps. ~Lisa

me and my spouse has one. it is exciting, yet i do no longer think of it is a stable gadget to loose weight and save weight off interior the long-term. It judges you on your BMI (physique Mass Ratio), it is in fact valueless pondering it is not a real BMI examining. i could nonetheless get it although. It has some stable stretches and exhibits appropriate yoga techniques.
