Do YOU get thirsty after drinking soda?

I do!! I've been drinking diet pepsi throughout the day today from a 2 liter and I just keep getting thirsty a few minutes afterwards. Does anyone else get this affect from soda drinks and why does it work like that?

You're probably actually noticing more. I've noticed that when I start to get very thirsty, sugary drinks (such as sodas) are a very bad idea and don't quench my thirst at all. Your body is probably trying to flush a bunch of junk out.

Carbonated drinks such as diet soda don't quench thirst they actually make you more thirsty. The reason is because of the chemicals in the syrup, mostly aspartame. It's made to dehydrate you so you'll drink more of the product.

Soda is a Diurretic, meaning it Dehydrates you.

And makes you urinate, causing you to get rid of MORE fluid than you put in your body!

    (same thing with beer)

So you can drink all the soda you want, you'll keep getting thirsty, and losing water in your body...to a point.

    You need water,period.

Tea will do the same thing to you.

    It's mainly the sugar content.

I have found that drinking soda does make me thirsty! The more i drink the more i want! lol There have been studies where most soda have a chemical called MSG that makes your brain send messages to you body telling it that you need more to drink. This is properly what is happening to you.

Yes, and there are good reasons (the first of which doesn't pertain to you because you drink sugarfree)

    1. diabetes

    2. obesity (from sugar, corn syrups, and metabolic disorder from those ingredients; also evidence that caramel coloring,e ven in diet sodas, increase propensity to obesity for some reason)

    3. kidney damage (removing xs sugar or artificial sweeteners, and there are millions of reasons to avoid aspartame)

    4. tooth enamel decay from the acid

    5. overall systematic problems due to the phosphoric acid, including osteoporosis
