For surgeons or surgical students: is it easier or harder to operate on a patient you know and like?

I'm just curious. If you were familiar with a patient would it be harder to cut them open or would it be easier because you're more motivated to help them. Or does it make any difference at all

    No difference at all.

There is a difference with family--that is why doctors rarely, if ever, operate on members of their immeiate family. They are concerned that they wouldn't react as swiftly or think as clearly in case of emergency.
