a general question to those that don't like the answers received?

is that how you censor a thoughtful, considered answer that you just happen to disagree with and not let those ideas be shared with the Y!A community?

just delete your question?

what are you afraid of? you have plenty of answers that agree. you can even pick one of those as best. why not let both sides of an issue be aired intelligently? l am not afraid of sharing my opinions. that is all you find here anyway. opinions.

while this is directed at a particular question, l've seen this happen more than once. censorship is bad in any form.

let your question run it's course and pay no attention to any responses that you may find distasteful, but as long as you're asking, let us answer!!!

someone else may find a new idea stimulating and useful.

Update:

no, it's posted right where l wanted it.

l have seen a few questions here that after a response or two, particularly one that vehemently disagrees with the asker, the question just disappears, sometimes being asked again or not.

Update 2:

Charles... l'm just jerking your chain on the mimic minnows and zebco responses. Heck, l've even been known to make up an answer or two. but l'm pretty certain you know the difference.

and thank you for the thought on the thumbs (you could gimme a star wink-wink).

Update 3:

Update 4:

how did that happen?

how did that happen?

Update 5:

the idea of deleting it did cross my mind but l was waiting for an answer l didn't like or disagreed with.

When things like this happened, it usually meant someone said something right.

According to my observations, the asker might delete a question when:

    1) The question was too simple and too many people could answer the question without any thoughts. The asker probably could answer the question him/herself if he/she put more thought to it before asking. I am guessing the asker felt embarrassed for asking such a question.

    2) The asker was looking for voices that agree but it backfired.

    3) There was a very good, detailed answer that will make a difference. The asker was so impressed by it and do not wish to share. (I only saw this happen once. I too, was very impressed by one of the answers and saved that question to my watch list for reference. By the time I wanted to print a hard copy of that answer, the question was gone already.)

    4) Some askers would simply delete a question after he/she got the answer(s) he/she wanted. I am guessing deleting the question is easier than picking one best answer for the asker. Or, the asker do not wish to piss anyone off by doing so.

But, whatever it is, deleting an answer beats picking an bad "best answer" that's full of garbage. :)

Bassplayer, as you know, in most of my questions i say "tell your opinions". And that's exactly what the answerers do, tell their opinions. Hey, can't i tell my own opinion without being called crazy?

I've been on this here YA! for a while and have seen it happen lots of times.

Bassplayer, i have noticed that you tell the TRUTH in every question you answer, and you never go soft. I for one don't get mad for someone that is speaking their mind. And i say you know it by now.

You've dogged on me about Mimic Minnows, Zebco 202's, and others and i personally think that it's right you tell your opinion. And yes, i see what you talk about when saying that people delete their Q's after seeing something they don't like, it's stupid.

Great Q, i wish i could give you 5 thumbs up.

EDIT : Yea, i know you was just playing bout the MM's & 202's lol. I gave u a star.

I haven't noticed it too much here in Fishing, but yeah "I don't like what everyone's telling me, so I'm just gonna put my fingers in my ears and go 'LA-LA-LA' real loud."

Pretty childish if you ask me. And if you get answers you don't like to a question you asked, and nearly everyone who answers says "bad idea" or "wrong" or "Don't do that" or things along those lines, well, don't you think you might should listen to them?

Oh, and you know what I've noticed? Most of us regulars don't care what you post in the fishing section as long as it doesn't have to do with the Pocket Fisherman or the Banjo Minnow. ; )
